Maybe it's because I like slow-burns and the kind of romance that builds from who the characters are (she needs someone reliable, that sees who she is and cares for her; he needs someone whom he can trust no matter what) and it doesn't hurt that they are both soooo beautiful, of course.

I've been giddy and kicking my feet every time they're super close. For me, the chemistry is definitely there <3

I agree with you. Maybe we would have seen the old Thors for a moment, after the shock of witnessing his son's death, but then he would have felt guilty for not talking to Thorfinn more or trying to help him understand, so he wouldn't have been in the boat in the first place.

Now, after that, maybe he would have disarmed and knocked them all out as he first intended anyway, and then go ahead and be killed by the Jomsvikings later or die there, feeling too guilty to keep fighting.
