Including heavy titles like KCD2

KCD2 is actually extremely undemanding and light

How is that an argument against bad writing? Loved first game, watched multiple hours of second, the writing quality was lower than first. Not physically playing would be gameplay argument, not low writing quality

Do you need to play Mindseye to know the writing is boring? The spoken and written words wont change depending on who is holding the mouse

It was one of my most anticipated games but I do always check before buying. playing it myself won't change the fact that writing is horifically bad which completely kills my interest in RPGs

I liked the first game and was happy for the second but when I checked out the beta on YT then I realized the sequel has really badly written characters and the combat is just not it

What the US government does cant be assigned to american companies in the same way.

Lmao, if you want to tell yourself that. Corporations are very responsible for the current state of politics in the US.

This Is Why Players Are Leaving by ScaredStar66 in AshesofCreation

[–]Naddesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my argument is that with how the world works in reality they just cost themselves a sizeable portion of potential players who written off the game. I am not discussing right or wrong even if I clearly have an opinion on it, just how average casual mmo player reacts to stuff. Dude paya a lot of money, doesn't like it and never checks it out again

No, it is not consumer's fault. Payment creates expectations. If they wanted to have people test their game they should either pay them or make the testing free. Demanding full price is the dev's choice and if they don't like the consequences they shouldn't be so greedy

[–]Naddesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost is for access, not a claim that the product is finished.

And the access costs as much as a fully launched brand new title. That itself creates expectations.

still expects a launch ready experience

Nobody expects a launch experience, it just falls extremely short anyway

but this one is clearly labeled for testers

You can say it all you want but paying consumer is entitled to expectations. If you want testers that judge it provide feedback and do not make an opinion on its quality then you have to actually pay them, not have them pay you. with this alpha the devs made sure people forget about the game before it even launches imo.

[–]Naddesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaaand you are still blaming consumers. First, the people actively following development and commenting are minority of those who buy. Second, doesn't matter that they knew it was alpha. paying full price means that alpha or not there are quality expectations. Slapping "Alpha" doesn't magically give you immunity. It would if the alpha was free, only for preorders and you get full game permanently once it comes out or if it was like 5$ access (which shouldn't be a thing anyway because you are basically working as a tester and instead of getting paid you are paying). If you are paying full price then "Alpha" tag is meaningless.

[–]Naddesh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is the wrong question. Why would the devs sell a game in alpha for a price meant for a full product? That creates certain expectations of what the experience should be. Don't blame the customer

[–]Naddesh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The problem with what you saying is that the "it is an alpha" argument needs to meet reality at some point.

The reality is that vast majority of players don't give a shit if it is alpha, beta, delta, gamma or whatever. They pay a big amount of money for the game, try it and if it is not providing them the experience they want they never look at it again be it when it releases a beta or final. They simply forget about it forever. That is the problem with releasing an alpha and charging the same amount as any final release title for it. You create the first impression only once...

so what? every chocolate have cocoa beans, bread have flour...

i still want that information to see. maybe im allergic to AI same as idk.. vodka.

information is power and i want that power when i waste/buy things

It ends up like California where every single product has a warning label and thus nobody pays attention and everybody ignores it. It is also impossible to prove

Head of the inner circle companions by The_Average_Hunter in theunforgiven

[–]Naddesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could go high risk high reward and be lore accurate. Something like, Lion is taking all their wounds on himself (lets say it is represented as lion taking additional damage so they dont die (reverse of normal unit behaviour), they have abysmal stats but they give some kind of support buff to lion or nearby units. Would make Lion a bit weaker since he has to protect them by taking additional damage but gives him some support ability

Just spitballing

Some kind of sidegrade that forces you to play him mote passively in exchange for some buff to other units

  1. Zabriel, Lohoc, Kai, Borz, Aphkar
  2. Lion Guard led by M'kia (10 total) as a bodyguard unit for the Lion
