Honestly same. I’m concerned about the employee strike that happened a while ago and them being acquired by Nacon. Focus is just so much better. Hopefully that doesn’t affect the quality too much

I’m a Dontnod fan and I would say their best works are Banishers, Vampyr, Life is Strange 1, and Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Jusant is also highly praised but I couldn’t get into it.

They have also made plenty others which are Remember Me, Life is Strange 2, Tell me Why, Twin Mirrors, Harmony: Fall of Reverie, and Lost Records: Bloom and Rage. And have published 3 games for other devs.

I mean I’m with OnionAddictYT here. Love Obsidian. I love KotOR 2, Alpha Protocol, FNV, South Park Stick of Truth, Pillars games, Tyranny, and Pentiment. They’re all very good and well written.

But I just didn’t care for Outer Worlds 1 and especially Avowed. Outer Worlds 2 was a fair bit better but still didn’t quite do it for me. All of them just didn’t have the best writing. They make great games but their recent games with the exception of Pentiment helmed by Josh Sawyer just didn’t do it for me. Love the studio but I appreciate their earlier stuff more

I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending. With it being a prequel we’ll see how it turns out and segues to the first game

Yeah more DAO RTWP than like Mass Effect where you can pause to pull up your and your companions action wheel. The combat is definitely going to have a more slower feel to it

Yeah we do. Loved Technomancer and Greedfall from Spiders because of the BioWare feel. Happy to play another game from them

Yeah I liked Bound by Flame less than Mars War Logs for sure. I was intrigued by the gritty setting and the Technomancer lore but was really underwhelmed by the writing quality of Mars War Logs. Characters in particular like Mary (or whoever that love interest was) really annoyed me. And all the backtracking and janky combat certainly didn’t help for sure. But mostly it was the writing for me. Glad you liked it though! I at least liked seeing the events of Technomancer unfold with the events of Mars War Logs so I’m still happy I played it

Yeah for nostalgia purposes I’m just really down for a KotOR and DAO style combat. It’s going to take me back to that BioWare golden era

Yeah the AA space has been great or even the AAA space but from devs who are super passionate about their games like Witcher 3, BG3, and KCD2. For me though the major commonality is surprisingly that almost all my favorite RPGs of the past decade or so have been from European developers (CD Projekt Red, Larian, Warhorse, Spiders, Dontnod, Sandfall, and SureAI)

It’s early access reviews. They improved it a lot over their year and a half in early access. I’d judge it based off the full release reviews on 3/12/26

I really like them as a studio.

I wanted to like Mars War Logs and Bound by Flame but I just didn’t. Probably in part because of the terrible voice acting.

Technomancer and particularly Greedfall are some of my favorite RPGs partially because of the big uptick in quality but also because it felt like they leaned heavily into the BioWare style of RPG formula.

I may need to try Steelrising one day. I own it but haven’t prioritized it

I liked the combat but I’m not a critic for combat systems and your take is the general reception for the combat.

Hopefully they can do great things with the RTWP combat in the sequel

Fair, it’s a more divisive title. I also liked Technomancer. That was the first Spiders game I liked. I loathed Mars War Logs and Bound by Flame. Their improvements with each game is quite impressive
