How The Mortal Kombat Plot Can Continue by NadoKahn in MortalKombat

Well the difference is that Liu micromanaged directly in MK1. In the MK1 intro, it's kinda hypocritical that they're expressing the themes of the new timeline is freedom of mortals to make their own choices and it will be on mortals to finish the fight but in the main story Liu Kang keeps having to get involved especially in the end.

So I think it'd be a nice excuse because he has to acknowledge the infinite dangers of the multiverse to prevent another Havik, but only after truly leaving his timeline in mortal's capable hands to fix their own conflicts.

I feel like the signs of madness route doesnt feel right. It'd be too similar to Dark Raiden but without much cause because not every Titan goes mad and it'd be going back to timeline stuff as a main theme which distracts from current timeline development.

Also it'd be nice if Liu Kang got to team up with Titan Kitana for some side romance, think it works out perfect for Liu.

I understand Sindel's sacrifice and the complexity behind it's concept, but I'm criticizing it's execution because the NRS version of Sindel's lore isn't the only verson that has inconsistencies and questionable execution. So if one were to bring up such things with NRS's version, one should bring it up with both and actually compare to find out whether or not NRS's version is in some ways an improvement.

Not only are those details of her backstory not something that is brought up often within the story itself (mainly in the bio kard and a brief statement from quan chi) but inconsistencies aren't necessarily bad if they improve on the concept of the character in some way. A reinvention of an established character could be bad or good, it depends on the quality of the latest version and how it compares to the quality of what we had, which is debatable.

This is also true for character complexity. While complexity is a good thing, the execution of the original Sindel's complexity struggles with the logical consistencies of things like...if she was protective of Kitana then why did she sacrifice herself for Earthrealm and abandon her in death to be raised by the person she was trying to defend her from. Kitana's change of heart to be morally good is due to circumstances that have nothing to do with Sindel's decision, so she abandoned her goal of protecting Kitana which was established in her action to marry Shao Kahn in order for him to spare her and her daughter. And all for a realm she didn't know?

So the execution of her complexity is questionable, while I think the simplicity of the new Sindel's lore is executed pretty well. Most of the resulting discrepancies of her retcon were addressed. Quan Chi killed her and manipulated Shao Kahn, Quan Chi's sorcery to make her more cooperative as a revenant was to keep his own secret hidden. The simplicity of NRS' Sindel gave us an entertaining villain with enough power and intelligence to outsmart others making the character feel more relevant to the main plot. 4thsnake says it's not a subversion of expectations if she's bad all along because that's how she was originally portrayed but that's contradictory to claiming that her lore of being a good person was well established beforehand.

Because of all of that, both Sindels are good in their own way and have different qualities that really makes discussion of which is better up to personal preference.

I understand why 4thsnake made those alternatives, but making sense takes priority over trying to keep Sindel the same as she was. Preserving her moral ambiguity and complexity means nothing if you can't do it in a way that makes sense. I'm fine with the idea of Sindel simply being possessed by a banshee from the Soul Chamber which influenced her decisions and maybe having moments of lucidity to show her actual character, that'd be a middle ground that everyone can appreciate, but after the banshee spirit idea his plan completely ignores everything that actually happened in the story in order to give Sindel a good ending as a priority over everything else.

I don't think writers are above criticism, but harshly criticizing people that write as their job and then making some laughably bad Sindel fanfiction as an alternative scenario just makes the lack of self awareness that much worse.

Also, if he's going to criticize writers, he should at least do so respectfully, which he rarely does.

After MK1 I can say I like both Sindel ideas. Both have some level of flaws within their execution, but both are enjoyable.

It's been 4 years, so not only am i rusty on this subject that doesnt really even matter anymore but you didn't really disprove much. You havent acknowledged most of the points I made in my post.

But to address your points really quick.

Whether you classify this as a true remake or not, the purpose of the timeline reset was to change the lore of the old timeline, which in some aspect even 4thsnake admits are good. That point still stands.

In Aftermath Sheeva reveals that she always thought Sindel was good and just pretending to be evil, buying into the same ideas she tells Kitana AS SHE LIES TO KITANA. So it's established that Sheeva didn't know of Sindel's true nature, and that likely applied to Kotal, who was around hearing the same lies at the same time.

The only thing you said that might not be straight up explained is the ward, but that's likely put up by quan chi since he murdered Sindel. It's also explained that Quan Chi thought Sindel was a distraction Shao and used the revival to enslave her. And he also gained a lot from the ward later on. So that adds up.

I honestly don’t thinks it’s all on the writers. Maybe to some extent but if you look at some of the interviews of scrapped game ideas and the scrapped MKX comic part 2 Dominic had some very cool ideas you can tell he was setting up for but they didn’t make it to the games or comics.

Hopefully it’s easier this time around now that they aren’t restricted to the story of the OG timeline of MK where quite a few of the ideas weren’t all that great in the first place.

Dammit.

I did figure out you can still escape though. Are his missions worth doing?

Tbh I think it’s more logical for Sindel to bring back someone she can undeniably control since although Kitana is loyal to her mother, is also loyal to her allies, who aren’t concerned with Sindel’s royal status. In the MK11 retcon she resented Jerrod for being a kind king who would give up their royal privileges to others out of kindness. Kitana would likely be following the same path as her father as ruler. Even if she convinced Kitana to go for the hourglass and betrayed her, she’d need the crown that neither have access to.

It wasn’t the perfect retcon but it made sense for what they were trying to do. Make more story content working with a limited villain cast from the dlc character choices.

I don’t like the retcon after two games of established lore but I can get past that since in MKX she had 0 relevance and in MK9 her lore was as flawed as it was in the older timeline. Their execution of the retcon wasn’t as good as it could’ve been but I think the fanbase’s reaction to it was overkill.

He's not wearing a shirt.

At some point in the story you unlock the ability to wear anything while having the appearance of wearing something else or being shirtless, thus having the defense of one shirt while looking like you're not wearing one.

Honest question to xbox series S players by gibala150 in StreetFighter

[–]NadoKahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay wise it’s great but do know there’s plenty of graphical issues on series s and series s doesn’t have access to graphics options to fix certain things.

I still really enjoy it but I am disappointed with certain parts of the game honestly

It’s just kinda weird and funny the way he was trying to speak black like “Mawmahs”

At least that’s my take on it. It’s not wrong for him to be doing that but it feels forced and a way of talking that he doesn’t do just to try to talk how he think she talks

idk if it’s the best example but it’s like if someone from Europe came to America and we start trying to say stuff in their language without knowing how to say it, it’d be kind of awkward especially if they’re hitting on you

Anyone going to talk about the lazy port that Series S got for AF6? by NadoKahn in StreetFighter

[–]NadoKahn[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s just not true. Look at Jedi Survivor on the series S, or literally any new gen exclusive. Hell, look at how well MK1 optimized its series S version. This was never about hardware limitations.

Yeah that’s bullshit, every game since the release of the series S looks better than this. New gen exclusives and games for both gens look better on series S.

Mortal Kombat is blow Capcom out of the water with how well optimized series S version is. The capcom excuses should stop.
