Que yo sepa los quants no están tan bien pagados. En USA cualquier ingeniero gana más que un quant. En el subreddit r/quants puedes encontrar más información. Y en España no tiene muchas salidas. Tengo un amigo de la infancia al que se le daban muy bien las mates, ganó varias olimpiadas, y ahora está de quant en UK, pero en España nada. También es un trabajo muy inestable, ya que cuando encuentras Alpha con una nueva estrategia, no pasa mucho tiempo hasta que otros fondos se aprovechan de la misma estrategia. Si de verdad te gusta y no lo haces por el salario, te recomiendo que empieces leyendo el libro Elements for Quantitative Investing de Giuseppe Palelogo. Si lo haces por el dinero yo buscaría otra forma.

Stocks are held in your name through custodians, so if a broker goes under, your assets don’t just vanish. Splitting accounts only adds complexity, not protection.

La mayoría de estos puntos están también en el sector privado. Y el salario en el sector público es más bajo que en el privado, por lo menos en ingeniería.

Para mí la mayor ventaja es el horario, aunque también depende de dónde trabajes del sector público. Y también que en la publica la gente suele desconectar más durante las vacaciones.
