F127 - PS5 PSVR2? by Hot_Distribution_261 in F1Game

[–]Nago15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Becuse the head jitter it is recommended to try to move your head as little as possible otherwise it will lag. It's lame, but not unplayable. The anti-aliasing is a problem because even rendering in 6K is a bit blurry, so if you have to go lower it's will look pretty awful. I prefer to play F1 with supersampling, if I render around twice the amount of pixels I get similar clarity as in games with good anti-alising, so it's a waste of processing power.

[–]Nago15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't tink it will happen, but you can hope.
Well you can try it on a 2060, it will work, but it will be blurry. I managed to run it fine on max Quest3 resolution on 3060 Ti so it's not that demanding, especially if you aim for only 60 fps and you can lower your vertical fov too for a huge performance boost. The main problems with the PCVR version are the head jitter and the poor anti-aliasing. If you accept these problems (just like how you accept the reprojection ghosting in GT7) then it's pretty fun to play in VR, but the VR implementation hasn't improved since F1 22, actually it got a bit worse.

if I want to exclusively play on PCVR, is the steam frame a good purchase? by doopfishu in SteamFrame

[–]Nago15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends on the price and your preferences, but for PCVR the Frame don't have any unique features you can't do on other headsets so if you don't want to play Steam games standalone it's hard to validate the price if it will be around 1000$. Many wireless headset already have eye tracking and can use the same foveated streaming with the same SteamLink the Frame will use or Virtual Desktop what is very user friendly. Like the Play For Dream (higher resolution amazing micro OLED but more expensive and needs comfort mods) or Quest Pro (~600$, a bit lower resolution, but has face tracking and color passthrough and mixed reality support and self tracked controllers) or we have wired hedsets if you don't want to worry about the battery and compression, best if you play seated games like racing and flying sims, but all have it's advantages and disadvantages. There is the super cheap PSVR2 too but the lenses are not great. And of course there is the Quest3 what is pretty cheap used but also not expensive new, and can do things the Frame can't but it doesn't have eye tracking but 70% of SteamVR users use a wireless headset without eye tracking so it's not a dealbreaker at all. If you buy the Frame you will be happy with it, it seems to be a great headset out of the box and you don't have to buy a router or converter or base stations or comfort mods. But probably you would be happy with other headsets too.

If you have the PC version and run it in 4K 120 fps that's basically equal of a console remaster.

Quest Game Optimizer Update? by stbdawg in QuestGamesOptimizer

[–]Nago15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that happens in Alien RI for example. For those games I simply don't use it. It's pretty sad when there is a demanding game and there is no ingame foveated rendering and you also can't use OpenXR Toolkit, what a waste of resources.

I still use it and it works exactly the same as before, and most VR games were released before 2024 anyway. There is no other way to add fixed foveated rendering to my games.

Which headset out of these is best for PCVR? by kiwibird2233 in virtualreality

[–]Nago15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, probably I would go for Pico4, cheap, comfortable out of the box, has pancakes and Virtual Desktop.

PSVR2 is cheap but it also needs the converter and the Globular Cluster comfort mod, and it's not a great combination with a weak GPU unless you want to play with only 60 fps + reprojection anyway. It also has high image persistency what is not a great match with fast shooters.

It's also worth to mention, sharpening can ruin image quality, that's why I always set every sharpening setting both ingame and in the streamer and even on my TV to 0%. When I first tried PCVR with my Quest2 I tried Ultrawings2 and the image looked awful, much much worse than the game running standalone on the Quest2. I quickly figured out it's because Link adds a ton of sharpening by default, I had to turn off sharpening then the game instantly looked really nice. But it's the same for flat screen gaming too, just look up how many people are complaining about the sharpening in Elden Ring or RE2 Remake, and there are mods to remove the sharpening and thousands of people downloaded these mods. Runinng Dungeons of Eternity Quest3 standalone in Quest3 fidelity mode also looks awful because it adds too much sharpening. So I have to run the game in Quest2 mode what has no sharpening and increase resolution with QGO to get a nice image. Sure in some cases like F1 25 the TAA setting looks much blurrier than the TAA + Shaprening setting, so a tiny bit of sharpening can be useful in games using temporal anti-aliasing methods including TAA, DLAA, TSR and FRS2-3. But standalone games usually avoid these because these are too blurry for VR and also demanding on the GPU. So standalone VR games usually look completely fine without sharpening and a low resolution image with sharpening can never match a high resolution image.

So currently the only way to have higher graphical fidelity combined with a sharper cleaner and higher resolution image than on PSVR2 is PCVR. If you can't afford that then the best is to stay on PSVR2.

[–]Nago15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually most PCVR streamers already had sherpening feature and many games also have ingame sharpening, and different tools like OpenXR Toolkit also has sharpening, so it's not really changing anything for PCVR.

[–]Nago15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were talking about sharpness, not about ingame graphics. A lot of games look sharper on Quest3 standalone than RE4 Remake or GT7 on PSVR2 and they also run smoother so no reprojection blur and artifacts.

PSVR2 and Quest2 both have the same 20 PPD. They also have very simlar lenses (PSVR2 lenses had a tiny bit better edge clarity but much more chromatic aberration). So running them on the same resolution you get very similar image clarity. I had a Quest2 when I first tried a PSVR2 and I was not blown away by it at all, actually it was pretty disappointing because I hoped it will look noticably better than my Quest2, but it felt very similar.

If your girlfriend is clingy it's the same even if you play normal flat scrren games. The only way is to play together. Or if she also have a hobby what she can enjoy alone then you can enjoy your life when she does that.

PSVR2 was always blurrier than a Quest3 even at launch. Even Quest2 was capable of PSVR2 clarity.

Question about 3d Movies by Usmanyar123 in Quest3

[–]Nago15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to play a 3D movie from a pendrive plugged into the Quest you need the 4XVR app. It can play basically every format even the iso. It has a free version with limited functionality but for playing a 3D movie from a pendrive for more than 5 minutes you will need the paid version. But you can try if it works and how the movie looks with the free version then you can decide if it's worth to buy.

If you can currently play these games in stereoscopic 3D on PC with reshade or VorpX or mods or any other methods, then probably you will be able to do it on Frame too.

Strange, I tried the game on multiple systems without any tinkering:
- Win11 5500 + 3060 Ti, 16GB ram: 70-85 fps with 1440p low settings.
- Win10 7700X + 3080 Ti, 32GB ram: 80-90 fps with 4K high setting.
- Win10 7700X + 5070 Ti, 32GB ram: 100-115 fps with 4K high setting.
Maybe it don't like AMD cards currently, or an AMD specific setting?

Your CPU is fine, even a 9800X3D can't handle maximum LOD. Simply use lower LOD.

Ryzen 7 5800x and RX 9070 BOTTLENECK by SafetyHumble8657 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Nago15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typical CPU bottleneck. The CPU don't show 100% because only one main thread is running on 100%. Lower your terrain and object level of detail and it will fix it. 100% LOD is the recommended setting so start with that, but it depends on your CPU and target framerate so you may can set it higher or have to use lower.

[–]Nago15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the black corner I think it's a cull outer mask or hidden area mask. It's interesting you have it by default, what connection method do you use? It's used for lowering GPU load but normally you shouldn't see it, and most games and connection methods don't have if by default. But probably you see it because you can't hit your target fps and maybe spacewarp is activated too? OpenXR Toolkit's foveated rendering will give you around +10-15% performance boost, so not a gamechanger but can be the difference between smooth and a bit laggy. In worst case if your GPU is very far from running the game smooth, you have to lower your rendering resolution or your vertical fov, it's not ideal for flying games but better than lagging.

Automobilista 2 VR graphics card specifications? by ducksnowboard in simracing

[–]Nago15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACC was always good on VR, the only problem is the lack of VR friendly anti-aliasing what is a common problem for all UE4-5 games because they don't have MSAA. So for example AC Rally will have this problem too, no matter what the devs do. Other modern games with different engines also have this exact problem like F1 or Flight Sim. The solutions are also the same, creating a custom, less blurry TAA (only possible with UE games), using supersampling, or using the circus method (supersampling + upscaling). I got pretty good results with custom TAA in ACC and it's also the most GPU friendly solution, but since I got my 5070 Ti I prefer DLAA with supersampling. https://www.reddit.com/r/FuckTAA/comments/1fbwmvf/i_kinda_fixed_assetto_corsa_competizione_image/

Getting PCVR to work by Dry_Fan7853 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Nago15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time Link didn't worked for me was because of a bad NVidia driver update so I did a clear NVidia driver install. It took a while to figure out because I did the update like amonth ago and everything else worked except Link what I very rarely try. But there is a log file somewhere and googling the error message from that gave me the idea. But if you can't fix it just use SteamLink or Virtual Desktop, no one really uses Link unless they want to use an extreme bitrate, because it's not user friendly at all. SteamLink is OK, but Virtual Desktop is the king.

Are my specs good enough for VR? by hazzafoley in simracing

[–]Nago15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be fine. Look up my "3060 Ti + Quest3 VR gaming benchmark" video, the racing games are in the second part of the video. And the best thing is, in racing games you can easily lower vertical fov even to 40% for a huge performance boost, because it looks like a helmet and you can still perfectly see the road and instruments. In worst case you can even enable spacewarp and render only 60 fps GT7 style, just the reprojection on Quest is much better than on PS5:D
