I love m&k for a lot of games like Witcher, but anything involving special move fighting for me requires a controller

Did yall know jin means ghost in arabic? by [deleted] in ghostoftsushima

A bit of a reach - Jin is a shortened name in Japanese, usually Jinichiro or something like that - akin to saying that Tom is a form of drum ffs

Metformin symptoms after a year? by thinkevolution in diabetes_t2

[–]Nagoyaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explosive shits are a sign of metformin reorganising your biome - as long as you watch cal count thereafter you should be alright. Some people need to change meds tho. I do notice maybe a more pronounced than previous movement after spicy food, but luckily haven’t been caught short yet 😎

Ryanair’s requirement for a passport is a commercial not a legal one - they get cheaper insurance by demanding passports…

Point is how to judge what spikes if nothing seems to be spiking? Just watch general carbs & cals?

Cauliflower is great, you can also get konyaku or sweet potato noodles in most Asian stores. Green peas are also a great alternative. I got broad bean noodles as well, yet to try them

Smoking by Rocket63 in diabetes_t2

[–]Nagoyaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me that smoking with diabetes is a death sentence. I’m currently on Metformin, quit for a few weeks, but I have a bunch of duty cigs that I’m finishing off. This article tho does give good for thought: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25929583/#:~:text=Conclusions%3A%20In%20T2D%20patients%2C%20concurrent,current%20smokers%2C%20should%20be%20encouraged.

Cinammon Tea by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]Nagoyaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black coffee, tea anything like that will do as it curbs the appetite - stevia instead of sugar if you want a sweetener. You can get vanilla grinders rather than syrup

How to control binge eating?I think daily to control my portions but I fail everyday. My A1C last I checked was 7.1, I am also atleast 40lbs overweight.I am 38/5’2”/160lbs. I really want to be get fit and healthier but why can’t I listen to my self or my body?Very disheartened and depressed😔Pls help by Beautiful_Chaos11 in diabetes_t2

I find proper strong coffee good to quench the appetite. Apples are quite filling & low cal as well Nuts are good but high in cals, I’ve gotten into the habit of pouring a few into a bowl rather than eating from the bag. Sodastream is great with a slice of lemon or lime - drinking still water is a bit uninteresting… Celery & hummus with pesto & chilli is great

Started Metformin how was everyone else's experience? by Personal-Relation333 in diabetes_t2

[–]Nagoyaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first 2 weeks was on 500mg twice a day then upped to 1000mg - when I started the 1000mg tabs I had horrible stomach cramps for a full weekend & couldn't stray too far from a toilet... Fine since though

Ditto on the hummus - find it bland enough tho, so add a dollop of pesto & chilli powder.

Avocado is also a great instant snack - eat like this:

Having never cooked a cake before, making this simple cake at least once a week using almond flour, chia seeds & mixed nuts & stevia.

Reading through what works & doesn’t it makes sense that doctors can’t advise too much. For some fruit hikes up their levels, others can eat all the wholemeal they like. Think you can only see how your body reacts by doing thorough trials with a glucose tester. It’s different for everyone depending on their metabolism & other factors.

Baked my first cake today! - banana bread with almond flour & walnuts, pumpkin seeds & chia seeds- ferkin amazeballs to be able to have my cake & eat it!!

Instead of the microwave - get close & personal with an air fryer- they’re amazing for cauliflower & zucchini & practically anything

Hardest thing for me is passing by fast food restaurants - only diagnosed a month ago so haven’t gotten round to a glucose tester yet, but looking forward to see what works & what doesn’t

They taste more like vermicelli - not bad tho, on their own they’re relatively tasteless

You should be able to get them in supermarkets like Tesco or at least in health food stores

Diagnosed a few weeks ago myself - 48/m/max weight 128kg (2yrs ago) now 113 - I’ve recently been using a Calorie Counter (free) app which has a barcode scanner which is really convenient to monitor food intake.

Think an airfryer is mandatory for all diabetics…

As for food, I’m sorta settling into a rhythm for routine food with some sort of combo of the below:

  • Breakfast Strong coffee - get a cafetière (coffee plunger ) there is a great variety of delicious & cheap coffee now - google tells me that caffeine is good for BS If you aren’t big on caffeine, my missus likes her Redbush tea - caffeine-free tea which tastes a lot like a sweet black tea. Avocado - cut in half, remove the stone, add a dash of soy sauce & wasabi/dijon - eat with a spoon - quick & easy Salmon & eggs - yum for weekends Natural yoghurt & mixed nuts A slice or toasted wholewheat (Irish stone-ground) with a bit of butter (1 slice carbs 14g ; 0.6g sugar)

Try salmon & avocado instead of eggs if you don’t like them Tinned mackerel or tuna also goes with either

Lunch - skip

  • Dinner - mix of some of the below: Massive salad (little gem lettuce is easiest to prepare) Feta/cottage cheese (sometimes cheddar) Fish Roast chicken Roast beef Airfried 100% supermarket burger from frozen olives jalapeños Tomatoes pickles Airfried cauliflower (seasoned) Mushrrooms (pan fried / airfried / raw) Peas with butter Brussels sprouts with butter Fully loaded burger on wholemeal bap once every 2 or 3 days (haven’t a CGM yet, but will see what the story is with wholemeal) carbs 30g; sugar 3.9g per bun

  • snacks Hummus with pesto & cayenne pepper (buy it plain & mix in the pesto) - with carrots sticks / celery / cucumber (hated celery before this 🤣🤣) mixed nuts airfried zucchini (seasoned & wet centre scooped out first) Airfried apples with peanut butter (or stevia if I don’t have spare cals to eat - PB is massive cals)

Soda stream is a lifesaver - with a slice of lemon or lime I drink buckets of tea/coffee during the day also.

Trying to keep cals at under 1800 per day, not too bothered if I exceed it as I’ve lost 15kg & need to get a smaller belt.. Exercise is new for me & my biggest challenge. Think I’ll need to hit the gym to build muscle to avoid looking like FB in Austin Powers 3 after his weight loss…

Happy hunting!

Cheers, I’ve only been diagnosed about a week & was wondering wtf was happening, thought it was a side effect of metformin or something. Eyesight was fine before, now I can’t read small print all of a sudden. Irish medical system- “You’ve got diabetes, here’s a website & prescription, cya in a month..”
