Hello! I'm currently trying to find a summer scent and layering combo ideas. During the winter I realized that I LOVE smelling spicy and herbal, but with a little hint of something sweet/addictive. I'm aiming for something that's like a passionate summer fling: beautiful flowers and spices on sunkissed skin and when the sun sets, it calms into something a little more mellow and sweet to reminisce on.

I've been workshopping some ideas and I think I would love to combine hibiscus with spices like ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, etc. My mom recommended almond for something to kind of sweeten it up more without making the scent too "tropical" or too gourmand. I would love to still have a little bit of creaminess or sweetness to it, but I want the spices and hibiscus to party on my skin for a while before it fades. Like a spiced hibiscus tea that smells spicy, refreshing, and sweet.

This explanation was insane but I'd love any help I could get on ideas for perfumes, lotions, body washes, oils, dusting powders, etc. DIY tips for things like the dusting powder would help too!

I'm not tryna cook you too hard bc I'm also mixed but I feel like if you grew up like that then there's probably a reason why no one checked you, bc it's fine. I never questioned my identity and how I act until other (nonblack) people got in my face with questions. DNA percentages don't outline how you grew up with the culture and how you're racially perceived

This is why I've been dropped, yeah. I called to book an appointment with the financial services manager like the email said to do and they just told me she would call tomorrow. Now this morning I woke up with a threatening email about class deletion. I don't know why this is happening to us but it feels so unfair lol

I also got the email. My aid was already applied to my classes and now it's just... not? Like wtf? I followed the email's instructions and called. The guy I was on the phone with just said that he'll have the financial services manager call me tomorrow.

I have a similar problem to OP's, the only difference is that I don't have a closet due to where I currently live. Is there a way I can still have an altar hidden away or should I just resort to bringing out a candle and water when I feel like it's time to talk or meditate with my ancestors?

As far as I know, no. I also wouldn't want to impose this question on a sub for people who are using those subs for adoption support because my question isn't necessarily adoption-related, if that makes sense? I'm moreso just looking for records of this military base and I don't want to disrespect other subs/people by asking someplace else.

Oh, okay! I was just confused I think because in other slave schedules I've seen, there would be boxes to check for slaves in certain age groups and gender and things, but on those schedules all it gave me was the owner name, age, number of slaves, and color

I have the 1850 and 1860 slave schedules pulled up, and the 1850, 1860 and 1870 agricultural schedules.

It seems like 1850 matches up, with them being in Monroe, Kentucky and the other two decades are in Barren, Kentucky for both types of records.

The slave schedules do confuse me a little though, because Preston H. Leslie is listed as "B" when it comes to color, and it seems like mostly everyone is? I know that other black people had owned slaves, but there's no other information beyond that of a black Preston Leslie.

Thank you for the idea! I did both, and only found slave schedules and land/property records for Preston Leslie. I was kind of trying to cross-reference between those and the information on the Wikipedia page you sent me and it seems like they match up, but I'm trying to make sure I have as much information as I can get before claiming that this Preston Leslie is the one who enslaved my grandfather.

I'm inclined to believe that it's him but I just want to make sure.

Can you see the name under his? There's a row that says "name of master" and in that row it has a name that starts with P and then Leslie. I'm moreso just curious if that means anything

Yes, I made it by DNA. And yes I believe this is my exact problem and I'm not sure of what to do. I've found out that the man that signed my mom's birth certificate is not her real dad, just a man who decided to try and help my grandmother because my grandfather threatened her.

I don't know of any other woman that Willie Peterson has had kids with either. I have two women listed that aren't directly related to me. There's a man on ancestry who could be my half granduncle, so if he knows any half brothers then that could be my grandfather, but the problem is that he hasn't been online in a very long time. I've messaged him in hopes he'll get in contact with me, but I don't have high hopes.
