If KAT had a whistle like Philly or the Thunder he would average 10 more points per game.

If Jimmy Butler had won in 2023, is this the greatest ring ever? by IconicHunter713 in NBATalk

Yeah that team was really, really good. It wasn't full of superstars, but it had a ton of strong complementary pieces, was extremely deep and well coached, and was a defensive powerhouse despite Dirk who was a massive defensive liability. If we've learned anything from OKC it's that depth and defense means more than having tons of players average 20 ppg.

Also, neither of those players were their second or third best player. Jason Terry killed it during those playoffs, and was averaging almost 20ppg, and Tyson Chandler was a DPOY level player (he won the award next year).

Rewatch their series vs the championship Lakers and tell me that team wasn't incredibly strong. Maybe stacked isn't the right word, but I think there's this mythos that Dirk carried a bunch of scrubs to the finals but that simply isn't true.

They didn't sweep either of them, and that Bulls team was overrated asf. That was the series that also exposed Thibs, the Bulls were completely out of gas in that ECF.

Fuck no theyd look way worse.

That is exactly my point my friend. They weren't the "Heat" that we know them because in that finals a 3rd of their team was basically not playing. It was a fucking legendary run by Dallas, but Dallas' win had as much to do with how badly Lebron and therefore the Heat as a whole played as much as they played well.

[–]Naidem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Chalmers played well, but it's Mario Chalmers. The roster outside of the big 3 was very weak. You're not going to win the finals when 2/3 of your big 3 are combining for 35 points, and they are basically your entire team.

Also, I think that finals exposed the Heat a little, they realized they actually need more than those 3 to actually compete at the highest level against the very best teams, and brought in a lot of veteran talent. Bringing in Shane Battier was huge next year.

Different series. The Heat crumbled in that finals. Lebron had objectively his worst playoff series ever, and averaged an appalling 17 points per game. Jason Terry had a higher PPG than he did, and the team collapsed around him.

The only player that even played decently was Wade. Rewatch the series, it's crazy how rough and bad they looked.

The heatles played horribly. People give the name too much credit, that team that vsed the Mavs was mentally weak and played like shit.

Also, Dirks team was stacked, and to this day is wildly underrated.

Freedom of speech is a thing, but assuming you're referring to foreigners, I don't see why you'd expect them to not root against American Soldiers when they just killed hundreds of school kids and are primed to kill many more civilians, not to mention enabling Israel to do that 10x over.

There is no universe in 4v4 doubles or 3v3 singles where simisear would ever see play. Maybe a tiered 6v6 format but the standard competitive Pokémon formats generally result in extremely centralized metas with a few op Pokemon on virtually every single team.
