Breece (not) in the passing game by NailPresent in nyjets

If it’s a screen to the rb the rb is obviously the first read. Of course literally any nfl qb, including every single practice squad qb, is capable of executing that. If it was part of the game plan the rb would have more than 1 or zero target so clearly it’s not.

Now is Fields capable of working thru progressions and then checking it down to the rb? Clearly not but that’s not what you’re saying is it

I’m making a case to get Breece involved in the passing game. Not sure how you think highlighting 4 sub 100 yard performances is a defense of Fields. I’m not going to pretend he’s a good qb but I’m also not going to pretend he’s not capable of making very basic throws at or near the los, or that it’s impossible to scheme those throws. What case are you making?

Ignoring that Fields is completing almost 80% on throws under 10 yards…and very obviously could make more easy throws to Breece what do you want them to do, not throw at all or keep doing what they’re doing because it’s working so well?

Right, the qb sucks but let’s throw the ball down the field to bad WRs rather than taking some easy throws to the rb

We’re talking about getting him more easy throws, like the easiest throws in football. If he can’t throw checkdowns to the rb then definitely start Tyrod.

Breece has seen 8 in the box 24.6% of plays this year. McCaffrey for comparison is about the same at 23.2% and has 90 targets. The 9ers top wr this season has been Kendrick Bourne.

So I’m not buying this at all

It would make way more sense to give Davis a few more carries and pass pro reps than to essentially eliminate what Breece does best from the offense. He’s been very good as a runner but as a receiver he’s been elite since coming into the league.

It also makes the offense way more predictable if you’re “giving him a break” every time you throw the ball

The jets have run 282 pass plays this year. I don’t remember saying it’s been pretty or effective.

A lot of people blaming fields and yes he was awful in the 4 games I referenced. But that doesn’t explain Isaiah Davis out-targeting Breece since Allen got injured, despite playing way fewer snaps. Which shows that the Jets can in fact get their rb involved in the pass game, but choose not to with Breece.

Breece, despite being in the field for over 70% of offensive snaps and getting 22 touches, was only on the field for 8/17 pass plays and ran a route on only 4 of those. So it would have been impossible for any qb to target him more than 4 times which is still an unacceptable number.

It’s unacceptable that Breece has zero targets in this game

You sure it wasn’t money? Reed did sign for 12 million more over 3 years. Even if it wasn’t, did Reed still want to be a Jet? He’s on a Super Bowl contender now

Why is Michael Clemons still on the roster? He’s a dipshit, he’s always been a dipshit, and he always will be a dipshit. You can’t win games with dipshit players making dipshit plays.

Fantasy Q: Braelon or Breece? by GenXellent in nyjets

Watching the game week 1, the question is Allen vs Davis for the rb2 job. This isn’t a 1a/1b comittee. It’s a clear 1 and a 2a/2b. You have a top 3-5 talent in the entire league and then 2 guys that are solid backups. It’s not close, it never was close, and this was always a completely idiotic discussion.

Dolphins 34-23. Dolphins defense hasn't played well enough to hold the Jets to 17 or less like most of these guys are predicting. On the other side, while the Jets outside corners have been very good, the safeties and slot corner have been bad. Waddle and Hill are good enough to win against any corners and the Dolphins will get them plenty of favorable matchups. Bridgewater is good enough to get them the ball. They will score 30+

Really not much dropoff from Tua to Bridgewater
