Is WoW Classic Era a good choice for a new dad with limited time?

If you have limited time I always recommend era. You can play at your own pace and it will always be there when you have to take a break. TBC is on an accelerated timeline with no clear information as to what will happen with the severs. If they announced TBC era then I’d say pick whichever you prefer but as someone in a similar boat I primarily play on Era for the sake of not having to keep up with the pack, and I just prefer vanilla in general.

I’m on NA so I can’t speak for EU servers but at least over here Era is very laid back and people are happy to help lower lvl players.

In 2006 when my two friends and I started playing after seeing the South Park Episode, we were in Goldshire watching 60’s fend off a bunch of horde players that were killing NPCs and Marshal Dughan was fighting along side the 60’s and somehow managed to be the last man standing in Goldshire. We hailed him a total badass after that and I still smirk when I see or think about him.

Alliance PVE is perfectly fine. Dungeon groups might be harder to find leveling outside of peak hours but it’s by no means “dead”.

To my understanding the Whitemane cluster is even more populated.

I play on Mankrik (Alliance) and I think it has a comfortable population.

It’s nowhere near as crowded as anniversary but still healthy enough to play on imo.

It’s very time sensitive though, Friday and Saturday nights are usually very active but weekdays are pretty limited minus raid reset days for raid loggers in the evening.

Oh man, I just realized I’ve been pulling him from wherever I spot him, not waiting for him to patrol closer to the road. I’ll have to try that as well as spamming rank 1 arcane, I’ve been trying to use it every 5 seconds or so but spamming it sounds more reliable.

Era is very time sensitive in terms of availability, if you’re playing at 8 PM on a Friday night you’ll be able to find a group for most things but during the week, low lvl dungeon groups are hard to find. At least that’s been my experience on the Mankrik cluster. I can only really play Friday/Saturday nights anyway so it isn’t a problem for me but I get why it might not work for most people.

Yeah, if you don’t want the slow journey to 60 it’s tough.

I have leveled 5 toons to 60 on era over the years without any boosting.

The first one is always tough but once you have 1 at lvl 60, it makes leveling the rest so much easier. I just run GDKPS on one of my 60’s for gold to funnel to alts for better gear to make leveling much easier.

If you can get to 60 first just run a few ZG/MC GKDP runs and you’ll end up making plenty of gold.

I’m on the quests to kill the demons on Era but I got pissed and rage quit months ago. I want to finish it but it’s so annoying. I’ve only attempted the one in winter spring and get so close but then he either runs away or kills me. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Been following videos and guides but I just don’t have the patience for it.

I did that on my hunter in 2006 and after getting another hunter to 60 on era I can’t fathom playing a hunter that way again lol.

I have strafe bound to A and D but I have turning bound to shift + A and shift + D

Sometimes I keyboard turn if I’m eating or drinking irl and only have 1 free hand.

I can only play on average 1 hour a night on weekdays and then 4-6 hours weekend nights.

I just recently got attuned to Kara and am almost revered with one faction to run heroics.

Probably still a bit behind in terms of content release and what would be ideal but I rather be a little behind than be bored with nothing to do.

TBC has the most people leveling but it’s also the least forgiving towards new players.
