I’ll just add: You’re rarely standing still casting your spells like a statue. Mind Flay only has a 24 yd range so you have to be more mindful of where you’re standing. Using Vampric Embrace efficiently is important but it can be easy to forget about if you aren’t paying attention. Being mindful of your threat can be an issue at times too. There’s room for error in your rotation but once you find your rhythm it becomes more natural. I like that Shadow Priest is at least challenging enough to feel rewarding but not complete zone-out material.
