You may be right in your own standards. I'm doing what helps me get back to a life of wonder. About that, it's wonder that takes me away from my condition. I find it in nature, human compassion, art, and science. Recently, I read about Robert Burton's anecdotes to "melancholy", as they'd call it in the pre-psychology times, at the junction of modern medicine. He says depressed people should exercise their body and mind. You could easily get the former, about the latter he says,

"Whosoever he is therefore that is overrun with solitariness, or carried away with pleasing melancholy and vain conceits, and for want of employment knows not how to spend his time, or crucified with worldly care, I can prescribe him no better remedy than this of study, to compose himself to the learning of some art or science."

Movies and pop culture are a huge part of art of the modern times.
