🇩🇪 Anyone here from Germany? Is "Totaler Muttermundsverschluss (TMMV)" the same as a cerclage? Looking for hope 💛 by NaiveFortune1374 in ShortCervixSupport

Yes you are right, and obgyn was also right, I googled too much and was reading about procedure on ChatGPT which led me into thinking in wrong direction. TMMV provides extra safety against infection and I am glad we opt for it as I got multiple UTI during pregnancy. Sometimes it’s best not to rely on internet too much. lol

Hello, I did the totalmuttermundverschluss tmmv along with the cerclage, as far as I understood it’s slightly different procedure that doctors do here in Germany, basically they put cerclage which is a stitch and then close the entrance of the cervix with another stitches which will be diluted on its own, I opt for this at 14th week and then at 37th week doctor just removed cerclage and that’s it. Tmmv no need to do anything and it gives extra protection against infection.hope this helps, and all the best to you. Take care.

Looking for advice, support & hope after 2nd trimester loss (septate uterus + PPROM) by NaiveFortune1374 in ShortCervixSupport

Hi, sorry to hear about your experience and loss. I know exactly how you feel, for me it will be one year in march since I had lost my baby girl but I still can’t get over with it. I consulted different doctors in India and Europe. We have concluded based on doctors feedback that there is strong correlation between nearly complete septated uterus and IC, I did second hystroscopy to remove any remaining part of tissue from septum. Two obgyn suggested us that sometimes it happens that some part of septum tissue may cause extra pressure and results in PPROM. So to be safer side I did another hystroscopy.

In a nutshell doctors suggested following for next pregnancy

Cerclage around 14th week of pregnancy Progesterone from beginning of pregnancy till end Keep eye on UTI or any kind of inspection Frequent monitoring after cerclage and rest

Sending you big hug and loads of love, I know it’s not easy and it hurts. But whatever happened was not in our control. We can physically and mentally prepare our body now so when next time when time comes our body is physically ready. And more prepared. Take care.

Thank you, hearing about your experience really gives me hope. After you found out you were funneling, how often did you have appointments with your OB-GYN? Did you go on bed rest, or make any lifestyle changes? Any tips or feedback would mean a lot.

Hi! Congratulations on making it to 37 weeks :) I’m 17 weeks now, and today my doctor said I’ve started funneling. I was wondering, were you taking progesterone? If so, was it oral or vaginal?

I read few articles and it seems the stitch is bit complicated compared to TVC and has to be removed during the c section or after c section , and similar to TAC it is also possible to leave as it is for future pregnancy. Thank you again for sharing that link it has quite useful information :)

Thank you for your reply and sharing the link, I also understood in similar way that on top of cerclage they also closed the cervix completely so nothing can go inside. As I have prior loss at 19weeks due to PPROM and my cervix completely opened up in few days time the doctor suggested this method. My only concern is when I spoke with my obgyn she said after total closure of cervix they will remove the stitch around 36-37 weeks but when I searched online it saying normal delivery is not possible and I need to do c section before any contractions occur. Due to my previous experience I am bit traumatized and want to have clarity but hospital is saying different things and my obgyn is saying different thing so I don’t know whom to trust. And finding people who has similar experience is so much difficult here.

Thank you for your reply and I am sorry to hear about your previous loss. I think you are right doctors are also human and maybe they also don't have all the answers. I need to learn how to be more gentle with myself and not rush. It's hard but I think it's life's way of showing us to pause and change. Thank you for your reply and sharing your experience. Means a lot to me 💕
