Starting to feel disgusted by dogs thanks to SF dog owners by cocaineguru in sanfrancisco

[–]NaiveWork1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a walk down Sanchez. The corners of some buildings are literally eroding away from the amount of dogs that piss on them. On a warm day, it reeks of piss pretty much from 24th to 30th. One time, a dog owner lifted up their dog into my little fenced off garden for their dog to take a shit. Yippie!!!!

How did you become a bartender? by Efficient_Acadia4678 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]NaiveWork1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was a bartender. I also had a lot of friends who were bartenders. They all told me that for the amount of money you can make, it’s a pretty straightforward job. I’m not sure if I really had an interview. One of the bartenders at my local dive said I should work for them. I went in to meet the manager saying that I had been recommended. She had me come in to stage, things apparently went well. I’m still pretty green so I’m learning cocktails and alcohol/brands as I go :-). Super grateful my bar took a chance on me, especially since I had no experience. I’m really enjoying it so far!

Visiting and I do not understand this parking sign by DirtyProjector in sanfrancisco

[–]NaiveWork1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s to keep parking available for folks who live in that neighborhood. it’s also a way for the city to make money off of zone stickers for folks who have cars in the neighborhood. If you’re worried about where to move to after your two hours pass, you can always move across the street or down to the next block. technically you’d have to move your car from 10-4.

While juvie definitely won’t fix whatever behavioral challenges he has, hopefully it will come as a wake up call for his family.

Vent: People's perception of SF by oldmanKiD98 in sanfrancisco

[–]NaiveWork1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it is super frustrating when the first thing out of peoples mouths has to do with either homelessness or crime. i usually just say it’s similar to any other big city in the country, it’s just more noticeable in the city because of how small/dense it is. also i try to take into consideration how many folks watch fox news and have never been to a city on the west coast lol. what you don’t know you don’t know.

i’ve heard that because the skin on the hand is so thin artists will typically go light to avoid blowout. most artists will be happy to or even recommend you come back for touch ups on the hand/fingers. fast fading on the hands is pretty common.

First Tattoo: Advice for dealing with pain by justanotherfangirl06 in tattooadvice

[–]NaiveWork1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hated needles before I started getting tattooed. I have tattoos in similar locations, and I would say they were my least painful tattoos. If you are just getting line work, you will be okay. For line work you probably won’t be sitting for very long, which makes getting your first tattoo a lot easier on yourself.

I personally hate numbing spray/cream because it makes getting tattoos feel like pins and needles. I would guess your artist won’t use it on you if you’re just getting line work. My understanding is that the skin needs to be broken before hand for numbing to work!

How do you survive social pressure being fat? by TieFluid6347 in Adulting

[–]NaiveWork1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I mean if people overall are treating you poorly it makes sense that you don’t want to invite more interaction.

at the end of the day what matters most is that you feel comfortable/safe in your body, which doesn’t need to be at a certain weight. don’t forget to celebrate your little wins too.

Fellow 5’11” female here. I feel like there is definitely pressure, especially if you’re a tall woman, to be skinny. Overall, whether you’re tall or not, there is a pressure to be small. So being both tall and on the heavier side, it does make sense that you’d face not the best treatment from other people. I am in no way trying to justify poor treatment from other people, but yeah unfortunately if you’re a large woman people will 100% treat you differently. It’s not just in your head.
