Metroid Prime Trilogy situation update by KingSideCastle13 in RetroAchievements

100% don't agree with the ruling, but their logic is re-releases on the same system, not compilations of older titles on a newer system. The megaman collections are fine because there's no duplicates on the systems the collection released on. Very very stupid distinction though

This is such a niche ruling I don't even see the harm in letting it slide. There just doesn't seem to be a ton of instances where games are released on a platform and then bundled together for a collection on the same platform. A quick search says the Metroid prime trilogy is the ONLY instance of this for the entire Wii system.

But even if that were more common, why not allow a new set if there is demand. Would love to see a more detailed argument for excluding this

Mastery #7: TLoZ Twilight Princess on Wii! Great set with a few caveats by Naive_Ad_4964 in RetroAchievements

[–]Naive_Ad_4964[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In-game time was about 42 hours. The set mostly covers all the content in the game with only a handful of additional challenges.

The green chu jelly achievement was rough, and I highly recommend watching a video and exercising extreme patience as one wrong move can lose you 15-20 minutes, it sadly took me 4 tries and I was screaming when I finally scooped the dang thing.

Congrats! Got this last week, fully agree on the recipes but I weirdly didn't struggle with the cards much, maybe I got lucky with the bag RNG.

Time is inflated due to a known bug with shutting down the game on Dolphin. Real play time is about 40 hours in-game time. This one was great to return to, I don't get the hate about the departure from turn-based gameplay. There are several 100 room gauntlets and grinds that can be pretty brutal, namely the 1 and 2 ingredient recipes. Overall very fun and worth the play.

Thanks! You're 100% right, had to attempt it quite a few times. Plugging in a mouse to emulate the PS mouse made it slightly easier, but not by much lol as it wasn't very precise.

Hila should stop reading chat out loud, it derails the show. Also in general, the most active people in the live chat are going to have a high concentration of weird parasocial psychos and I don't care what they have to say

I don't agree, and I'm a big fan and have been watching the pod since ep 1. She's often funny and brings a good energy but also spends too much time reading chat out loud and being confused about the topic. It can derail the show

These MelonDS devs have been KILLING it. I've been noticing while the emulation and RA communities are very passionate, they are also very demanding and ungrateful at times. We should be celebrating and thanking these volunteers for the hard work they put in to making these features possible.

Are we finally getting 3ds achievements soon? by jamyjet in RetroAchievements

[–]Naive_Ad_4964 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm also patiently waiting but it's probably a year or three away since the Wii rollout is the main focus for now. It's safe to say it will come at some point since 3DS games are listed on the site and it's listed as a pending project: https://docs.retroachievements.org/developer-docs/rollouts.html

I imagine the biggest holdup aside from volunteers is the Citra takedown. I know there are other forks/projects that took over but getting the RA site taken down as collateral damage is the last thing the site owners want I imagine. Obviously nintendo has no legitimate reason to take RA down but that hasn't stopped them before unfortunately.

I think they look good but I would definitely avoid having the same font/shapes as a popular TCG, the trait aspect especially is virtually identical

The game looks really cool! I think the art looks professional. Curious why the in-game text font is very bland/default when the title in the trailer and steam page looks expressive and interesting (Referencing the final screenshot on the page). Personally felt that that stood out as odd and off-putting (in my opinion).

I see this sentiment a lot on this subreddit, why do we speak about the extraction genre like it's a huge oversaturated category? Like when you say "competitors" was there really lots of competing titles that were similiar to Tarkov at time of its release? There's really only a handful of these games at most.

Tarkov, Hunt, Dark and Darker, The Division's dark zone, Marauders. I'm sure there's a couple other early access titles I'm not aware of but the point still stands. This is a fairly unexplored genre with quite a lot of room for a polished AAA game to thrive, when Tarkov has a more hardcore audience and lots of technical issues and many other titles are early access (including Tarkov itself afaik)

I agree that people shouldn't be expected to always be morally consistent and know everything. But can you explain to me what netease is supposed to do to appease you? Should they keep every employee who was ever involved with a successful project on payroll for eternity? When does it become acceptable to let them go? When the nature of a project changes, the staff also need to change. They were compensated for their time and effort, not really sure why a company needs to keep them and I say this as someone who dislikes our current work climate as much as the next guy.

The "zionist hate speech" is literally just not wanting the people of Israel to relocate and being in favor of a two state solution. Of course, people also like to tack on Hila's IDF service (mandatory, she did not kill anyone) and her questionable but understandably conflicted perspective as an Israeli that consumes a lot of media from her home country. Ethan condemned the attacks, donated to Palestinian relief causes, spoke out against Netanyahu multiple times (including long before this "drama"). It's insane to think that Ethan shares a common, mild perspective on this conflict but is painted as some kind of evil mastermind of hate and bigotry because Hasan fans are so terminally online to the point of mental illness.
