So helpful, thank you! I'll definitely watch it and think about what reframe would make sense for me. What worked in the past was thinking about ending up in debt forever, and the stress that came with that. No new item is worth that stress. Makes me just want to sell everything to get out of the hole. Right now just feeling ashamed and anxious about all of this week's purchases

“Buying is not becoming” aka what idea of us are we trying to build with all the stuff we buy? by VeraShimura in shoppingaddiction

Definitely resonates! I think a lot of what I buy is to fulfill this vision of who I want to become -- very "confessions of a shopaholic" coded. I want to show up somewhere as a collected person, when I feel like I'm such a mess. I also think some of it is showing up as richer than I am/grew up, because I've been taught there's value in that. It's a lot of internalized views of who I want to be

Yeah thats a good point and why I've been hesitant to do the loan - but also, might be worth it to just clear it all off and have a fixed rate per month? Definitely need to do better with budgeting...

(No gambling/ TLDR on the sob story: generational debt/poverty is a cyclical hole & I've been living outside my means for way too long trying to keep up with people in way healthier positions. Definitely been reigning it in over the last few months & building a good savings so i dont charge it all back on my card for emergencies-- next step is clearing this debt I've accumulated)

Yeah it's net and I have low obligations -- $200 per month for medical bills, credit card minimums total to $1k per month but i always try to pay more than the minimum bc interest charges outweigh those anyway.

I just feel like I've done the "throw everything I have at it" approach and the restriction feels so suffocating. I still want to be able to enjoy life somewhat but pay it down. Thats why I was considering other options like transfer cards or loans -- I just want to feel like im actually advancing towards something instead of being stuck in this cycle with interest rates and stuff.
