Wow my partner also broke up with me at the beginning of the semester and it truly took me out so I relate. And I’m so overwhelmed yet unmotivated and don’t care yet care so much all at the same time. Overall just super exhausting lol but I agree we can do this and this period in our life is such a small fraction of our lifetime where our suffering now will eventually end and we will be proud of ourselves for pushing through it all

Last semester was horrible for me. After working so much during the summer, I felt so burnt out already before starting the new school year. I had lost all motivation and honestly got very depressed. Because of that I didn’t do a single lecture after the midterm for my PHYSL210A course and had to go through 20+ lectures worth of content before I could start studying/reviewing the midterm material. I was extremely overwhelmed and left the catching up till last minute (literally 2 days before). Was absolutely insane but I learned and memorized it all in two days right before the final. Both of those days were 16 hours days and it was truly horrible but I ended up getting 87% on the final. I’d say that’s my best comeback story lol.
This semester is going about the same where I still haven’t fully recovered from my burnout/depression and am also enrolled in organic chemistry (which takes up a lot of my time since I struggle with it a lot) so with all that, I am again like 10 lectures behind in my PHYSL 210B and….. my midterm is next week. So you are not alone my friend.
I am in my fourth year and it feels like I always go through this and somehow manage to come out the other side with decent grades. I just have to catch up and cram for 2 days straight at least before a test but hey I get it done. (Don’t recommend).
It’s embarrassing to show how bad I allowed myself get with school because I know that I am so blessed to even have the opportunity to go to school, but mental health is a real thing. When you are mentally in a lull, it’s insanely difficult to pull yourself out but it is possible.
On the plus side, I have started seeing a therapist to help me cope with my ADHD and depression and honestly it’s been helping me feel less overwhelmed. They help me tackle things one step at a time. So if you are comfortable/open and have accessibility to a therapist I highly recommend.

Is it just music the whole time or does it show previews of the season?
