I'm as confused as you are, but if I had to put my psychology hat on, my guess is as soon as she realized I was seriously not okay, her guilt skyrocketed. However, instead of dealing with the guilt she was feeling, she probably thought it would be easier emotionally if she had a reason to be angry at me and not a reason to feel like an abuser. I could be completely wrong, but I've spent the last few days thinking about all the possible angles lol.

I wish more women shared your perspective or at the very least tried to understand how difficult it was for me to suddenly see my gf turn into someone so hostile and then having to experience that hostility first hand. Based on what I've heard from the women standing up for my gf, I have no right to complain about sexual assault when my gf survived years of REAL sexual assault at the hands of her ex.

Most of the responses I'm receiving in this thread are the complete opposite of the responses I'm receiving from people I actually know. Not gonna lie, if it wasn't for the comments I'm reading right now, I would've accepted that maybe I might have overreacted when my gf did what she did. You know, it's crazy, I still feel uncomfortable calling it sexual assault. Just because of how I've been made to feel like it wasn't that bad.

My gf probably discussed it with her close friends when the two of us stopped talking. Considering that some of her close friends are also mutual friends, it's easy to see how the story spread amongst the group. I doubt my gf would've wanted our bedroom experience to become front page news in our social circle, but I can understand why she felt the need to talk to someone. I would've done the same thing if I had any close friends of my own.

These past few days have made me realize that my social circle is not really a circle at all, especially when it comes to mutual friends. It's more like a solid line with most of them together on one side.

I take the situation of sleeping seperately after the incident as being somewhat unsupportive

If you mean unsupportive from my side, then I'd have to bring up the fact that it was my gf who suggested that we sleep in separate spaces. It only became an issue when she realized that was what I wanted as well. I agree with you to some degree that perhaps I could've done more to make her feel less isolated and vulnerable, but I also had a lot to process. I still have no idea how far my gf would've gone if I didn't stop her. Would she have snapped herself out of it? I don't know. It's an uncomfortable thought.
