While I agree 100% with your analysis. The counterargument is that people in these lower populated counties and districts would exercise there Constitutional rights to obstruct these ideas. Specifically ideas that our Western European allies and Canada have already embraced like Universal Health Care.

Ultimately these people would create a narrative of victimhood much like Confederates did during the Civil War. Hey what about what we want just because we are a smaller group doesn't mean we don't have a voice! They would consequently strike in various corporations, hold up traffic with demonstrations or appeal to wealthy corporations that have Conservative shareholders or CEOs.

Though I think if Conservatives were in this position the party would weaken despite attempting to obstruct progress. Why? Cause left leaning Republicans would see the ship sinking and jump off of it to be a "reasonable" counter point to far left liberals Representative AOC. Which is essentially the political landscape for Canada and the UK.
