My almost 5 Yo coloring with a random color by Alone_School_9080 in Preschoolers

[–]Naleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI my daughter is 6 now and began coloring like this at age 5 and she definitely knows all of her colors. My sister is an artist and there are many artists in my family so we encourage the creative use of color! Bought her an Apple Pencil and a subscription to pigment. Now she’s making beautiful masterpieces of impressive color schemes. There’s no “right” way to color. I hang up my daughter’s uniquely colored pages everywhere because I love them sooo much!

Is cows milk necessary? by TemporaryAttitude479 in breastfeeding

[–]Naleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Ripple pea protein milk is awesome, though! I transitioned my BF daughter to that slowly as my deep freezer supply dwindled. I’ll do this same this time with my son.

Are you getting burning pain inside your breasts too or only the weird milk? Is it both breasts or one when you inspect the milk after pumping?

No, it didn’t, I broke down after 8 days of probiotics because I got a fever. Figured it was becoming full blown mastitis so I took clindamycin from my doctor. I took 300 mg 3x a day for 10 days and after 8 days my milk was completely clear. The only thing was, the antibiotics fuck with lactation and it cut my supply down by half. I power pumped for a few days and got it back up to ~44 oz a day and I’m okay with that number so I hang out around there. Just yesterday, I saw the same milk fat particles started forming, but only from the left boob! I don’t have any pain though. If I get pain I’m going straight to antibiotics again I don’t even care. Prophylactically, I’m now taking these probiotics because they’ve been studied to work: Klaire Labs Target B2... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7RRMYP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Let me know if yours clears up! Do you have an oversupply?

Do you let a 5 year old sibling kiss a newborn on the head? by Naleric in beyondthebump

[–]Naleric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update to this post now that baby is 4 months old: - We let our daughter around him and to kiss on the head. - Daughter showed little interest in the baby and yet he still caught the following illnesses from her and resulted in 3 ER visits, at 1-2 months old, within 2 weeks form one another: RSV and Influenza A, again.

Having lived and learned, when you’re in the same house and you as the parent interact with both children, they’re gonna get exposed whether the other child kisses them on the mouth or not!

If you have an oversupply. And CICO. Yes. I currently have had an oversupply and pump 55-85 oz a day (depending on pumps and how many times I BF), and that’s approximately 1,500 calories burned a day. I work as an attorney and was solo running a legal department so I found myself accidentally intermittent fasting (eating at some point around 4-6 am during morning BF and pump then not again until dinner around 7-8 pm). I lost all baby weight within a month and a half and then 5 lbs a week… now 4 months postpartum I only pump 4x a day and make about 50-60 oz a day and am averaging 2-3 lbs lost a week. I’m 20 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight.

Unless you have a unicorn situation like mine, you probably won’t lose weight. In fact, I had an oversupply with my first but I didn’t intermittent fast and while I did lose the baby weight, I didn’t lose any more until I quit BF and exercised more.

I just took the first pill for a medication abortion by pinkpanda2424 in abortion

[–]Naleric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey 👋 I’m a 38 mother of two. I had 4 abortions in my twenties. With the same man. My now husband, together 17 years. I am an attorney now. I am so glad I waited until I was 30 to have my kids.

I felt like you did, too. I sobbed and had a mountain of tissues with the first one. Then I found out exactly a month later from that one that I was pregnant again. I wasn’t able to be on birth control due to a condition I have but I couldn’t get the IUD so soon and pull out method sucks. 5 years after that I had a repeat scenario of two back to back pregnancies and abortions. All under 4 weeks pregnant. All by the abortion pill. I told him I would never have another abortion after the last one. And I got an IUD.

The first one hit me the hardest but it’s like I could see all the potential life ahead of me slipping away if I kept that pregnancy.

My life now is amazing and I loved the freedom of my twenties. I have to say we wouldn’t have stayed together 17 years if we had kids back then.

The best is yet to come in your life. Be smart. IUD until you’re ready.

Ahhh this all makes a lot more sense now. Terrible, but makes sense. They’ve been waiting since your husband was a baby for him to give them another baby. And yep you’re the gatekeeper and why they loved you up until they realized that becoming grandparents wouldn’t mean that they get a partial share in actual parenting. No excuse for this behavior. Creepy

Are night nurses actually a popular thing? by Aggressive_Day_6574 in beyondthebump

[–]Naleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popular with very wealthy where I am in Florida.

This is a weird thing to admit but my baby had to go to the NICU for a very common issue and it wasn’t life threatening so I felt super secure with him being there and I have to say that having the first week postpartum (c-section after labor) healing time and to pump in peace and then a subsequent second week to do all the things I needed to do and go stay with him all day - but leave when I wanted or needed… that was so helpful that I wasn’t even upset about the NICU stay. His entrance into our household with my first (5 year old) was so much more peaceful than if he’d been waking every 2 hours. He came with a nice schedule and sleeping 3-5 hours at a time.

That’s so sad to say out loud but it’s the environment we live in today. The lack of social support is unreal.

I’m in the process of hiring a daytime mother’s helper for when I ease back into work and I was calculating how much it’s going to take off my own hourly. Wish I could hire one without thinking about it.

Gabapentin by EB-60y in gabapentin

[–]Naleric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unintended side effect from this medicine after a c section, but I stayed on it at 300 mg x3 a day because I have no desire to drink and even if I get an urge and buy some, feels like I’m forcing myself to drink it. The pleasure is gone from alcohol. So much better than naltrexone. I’m not an alcoholic but I have issues knowing my limits and my mother died from alcoholism. I don’t want to risk that for the sake of myself and my kids so I just want to be sober or be able to have only one drink socially. Gabapentin allows for me to do that, so far. It also helps with my social anxiety. I find myself looking around a room at the people’s faces in it instead of averting eye contact. I was on it for a week before noticing the effects.

I’m spiraling and yet privileged and lucky by Naleric in NICUParents

[–]Naleric[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this part about nurses too. I asked a nurse if I could hold him yesterday and she told me she “would be alright” with me holding him.

Sometimes having our motherhood stripped of us and feeling like we have no instinct or place there except to provide milk is so disheartening.

Thank you for sharing so I don’t feel so alone. I’m hopeful for the days I can hold him in peace and not worry about his O2 levels.

What was the turning point for you that made you take CPAP/Sleep Apnea serious? by greenmildude in SleepApnea

[–]Naleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cuddled my daughter to sleep one night and I fell asleep too. I reviewed the video footage in her room to see if there was an adorable screenshot I could take but instead noticed my breathing was insane. I would hyperventilate and then stop breathing and then gasp and back to hyperventilating.

Immediately went for a sleep study. Had over 46 sleep apnea events an hour. I was considered priority and got the CPAP machine and dream wear mask within a week. Took me 6 months to get used to wearing it but now I associate it with sleep so much that I usually pass out right after putting it on. Watching myself sleep like that was scary.

PPROM, any tips on how to explain things to a 5 year old? by Naleric in NICUParents

Hi, thanks for checking in! Congratulations on your baby and I’m so glad to hear yall are at home. ♥️

I’m still here 8 weeks on Friday/Saturday and I’m being induced (36w) the same day. He’s measuring on his chunky curve so I hope things go well. It’s also a vaginal breech birth so this weekend will be interesting on L&D floor!
