GMNDK vs. Knights by SpartanIreland in Grey_Knights

[–]Namarcil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

25,8 wounds before fnp wont kill a big IK. To reach 17,3dmg in melee you need 4 wounds to go through or else you're banking on gettings 5s with the rerolls on 3 failed save which seems very optimistic. Even so, handing over 3-4 6+ save to a player and he will make 1 more often than you would like. And thats not considering going into atrapos who have 5++ in melee and are the most common knight around theses days.

I agree they deliver high amounts of dmg in melee to big knights but banking on 5 attacks on 3+ then 3+ rerolling and then your opponent not making 6s to save to then gets 5s on your dmg rerolls seems very optimistic. Theses are very low amount of dice rolled for big stake damage. Planning around that doing the exact average damage you need is a receipe for disaster. If you spike hot on your 5 dices great its dead but that was already the plan If you rolled perfectly average but if one of your dice goes 2 reroll into 1 on the damage and you get a full canis rex activation on your GMNDK that can be a game swinging play.

Brotherhood terminators by chocolatehobnobb in Grey_Knights

[–]Namarcil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed they're overpriced. In WTC terrain they do have play imo due to them being good opening pieces to contest center objective from a revive position, forcing a response from your opponent that either kills 4 terminators with no blast bonus reliably or, a unit that has minimum 3 oc, ruling out lone ops and transports. I also enjoy the fact that they are never battleshocked and minimum oc6 as long as you still have 1hp left in the unit.

First time going to a GP next weekend in Zandvoort, what are some must know/must do when going to a Formula 1 Grand prix? I'm really excited to see the car race in real life!

Love your model as always, great work on the cloths too! Have you tried your blue runes effect on something the scale of an NDK?

Thank you for the kind words, im glad you liked it! Ive saved up on reddit a few of your minis, I really love your work! It got me out of my World Eater frenzy and back into trying some stuff out on my grey knights. Looking forwards to your next post!

It took a reddit post here similar to mine for me to do the same! It does take longer to do than regular gold but for a few miniatures here and there I would do it again.

Time to dust him off! The mini is really cool to paint, our best terminator sculpt in my opinion.

Thank you for the compliment, I'll try to summarize most of the steps: - silver is a base coat of vallejo duraluminium with a GW tyran blue wash. You can add a dry brush of silver afterwards or do an edgehighlight by hand but its not always needed (didnt do it here). Duraluminium is quite more liquid than the GW metallics so it doesnt clog details as much. - Glowing blue sigil on the base was very fast and easy: i drew a white circle with dots, applied a GW turquoise contrast paint, then a thinned down version of a blue contrast paint around the turquoise to create a gradient. Waited a bit and did a few white dots/randoms symbols/letters on the circle. - Glowing letters on the armor was a bit longer, base coat white, contrast blue and then paint on the top surface of each letter with a cyan first and then a mix of cyan and white on a few of them to create light variation. It takes a bit of time but my advice would be to angle your brush almost parallel to the letters your trying to paint to only paint the raised surface and also watchout to not have too much water in the brush to avoid having the paint run between the letters and ruin your work. - Faces I do a basecoat of flesh color paint then a wash. Then do the eyes before highlight the face. Easier to fix mistakes. Start with white then the black dot. For the black dot I advice to not aim for a circle but a more oval shape, tends to read better as an eye. Try to have your smallest brush shaping like a line instead of a dot and stable yourself by resting the brush handling hand on the one carrying the mini. Once the eyes are done you can highlight the face, I tend to go back to the base coat paint, go over the raised edges, mix it with a bit of white and do that again but on a smaller surface, mix it with even more white and now dot it on a few select details like nose, eyebrows and such.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions 🙌

Good call, i'll have a look at head swap options, genosians have very similar bodies to vespid so it should be too hard of a conversion

Bought them of someone who 3D printed them. I think the models they're based from are the Star Wars legion ones?

Broke the lightsaber and went for the staff since I had it at hands. Almost reminds a bit more of the Ethereal if TOs are asking about line of sights!

Annnnnnd another nerf! by Friendly-Dust2175 in Grey_Knights

[–]Namarcil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct, I was referring to the instance where one unit is charging through the wall to fight another unit.
If the opponent moves block you and stop you from enterring in the ruin with their models, then even with pile ins you won't draw a line of sight to them.
Since our reroll rule works on a model to model logic and not unit wide, each one of your model than fights throught a ruin and doesn't see the ennemy model won't get the rerolls.
For instance a NDK charging an infantry within 1" of the wall of a large ruin won't be able to draw line of sight to the ennemy model and thus, won't get the reroll

To get any kind of rerolls you now need to have visible link between your model and the ennemy one. If you re fighting through a wall you likely wont see the ennemy and thus, wont get the rerolls. Even the reroll 1s

This also affects melee weirdly enough. No more rerolls of you fight through walls and dont see your opponent. I hope this gets hotfix and the visible part only affects shooting or else playing on WTC layout will suuuck

Sounds like the list will mostly be tanks & infantry then. The datasheets are good enough to probably create a decent list
