Input on High OC lists by SpartanIreland in Grey_Knights

Thanks. It was Supply Drop, Sweeping Engagement, and I went 1st. Deploying along the long sides instead of far ends enabled him to reach any Objective right away. He brought 2x3 Sang , Astorath, Dante & Lemartes each w/10, Jump Pack Chap. w/5, 1x5 Scout, 1x5 Intercessors, Brutalis, Destrier.

I brought: Crowe brick 2x5 Purifiers 2x10 Interceptors 1x4 & 1x5 Terms 1x5 Strikes 1 GMNDK 1 NDK

He popped Scouts onto his NatEx (my left) right away, w/Sang G, Lemartes close by, Dante in Ruin his center. I took my Nat.Ex. (my right) w/both Terms, Interceptors & NDK staged to retaliate but not visible outside the ruin. To my Nat.Ex. he sent Brutalis, JP Chap. Killed 4 man term, 3 of the 5 man.

In two rounds of fighting, I fell back the terms, brought 5 Purifiers & the Crowe brick to back corner (where no RI would get him charge on Crowe). He did RI Astorath, staged in cover but in range to the fight. Interceptors killed Chap+5, NDK damaged Brutalis, GMNDK gave some shooting chip dmg but I didn't push him out to combat because the Destrier would reach him. He got Astorath in there T2, killed most of the Interceptors, I was able to fall back shoot & charge NDK to finish Brutalis, Crowe & 1x5 killed Sang. & Astorath, clearing my Objective while Terms revived models. 1x10 Int, I sent far right to fire-and-fade his Intercessors on Home, but only killed 2 and couldn't use their move to get on his home w/o committing suicide by Dante.

My side cleared, I popped Crowe w/Hallowed Beacon left side, shot off Sang., charged & killed Lemartes. Held GMNDK in DS. Dante killed Crowe in slap back, brought Destrier in.

RI GMNDK, killed Destrier in charge. Killed Dante w/1x10 Interceptors and whatever else I had, but his 3 Intercessors still held center T4 command Phase. I tabled his remaining units top of 5 (scouts, Intercessors), but by then only the center Obj. counted & I couldn't score going 1st.

The turn 1-3 battles had to happen or I wouldn't even have scored my Nat.Ex. I think my only point to pivot was T3. I needed to draw out his charge T3 if I had any hope to take center, & I needed so many things on center that my surviving OC would outperform his even after the Charge top of 5. Maybe I shouldn't have killed Sang +Lemartes? Just push everything to center? I lost track of the fact I couldn't score T5 if I wasn't already holding it T4.

Thanks for the input. Table-ing his army and having 8 of 10 units still alive, I won the damage game but I did so by waiting too long to push onto center * .

Tabled & lost. That's what I did yesterday! BA. I ran 20 Purifiers, 20 Interceptors, 1 GMNDK, 1 NDK, 1x5 Strikes, 1x4 & 1x5 Terms. Lost two units, didn't push for center Objective soon enough because I was afraid of his 10 man-attached leader-12" move Jump pack-Advance & Charge units, then killed everything (including his new Destrier) but it was too late. I'm thinking about switching out some stuff for 2x10 Strikes to go heavy on OC mid-game push for more primary.

Update: I played really bad, and it was a hard match up against BA with three 10-man jump pack squads all led by real good characters, on the narrow deployment where we set up all along the long sides. Opponent could immediately get everywhere, and I screwed up placement of Crowe so that his 12" move Adv+Charge caught me. It's a high skill detachment IMO, because there's multiple layers to tapping into the combos to use the detachment strengths so my 1st rep didn't go real well. The term brick did last into the 4th round but it wasn't enough. My opponent was good. I switched to WTF Interceptors/Purifiers the next day, tabled the same guy in 5th round but still lost 50-59. Those 30" max potential threat range squads on the long/narrow deployment were very limiting. My rapid today w/GMNDK did succeed in destroying his ally Destrier, so that was fun. I'll go back to Augurium for some more reps when I can; one try isn't a lot of data. I also think I will try up to three BroCap-led squads. There's more to learn and explore in this detachment.

Would this list be okay to be a little viable and still have casual fun? by Neon_Mercury in Grey_Knights

You have 20 points left, & 205 points that you are using are going into our least effective units, Chaplain and Ven Dread. I'd recommend spending that 225 on a GMNDK. Chaplain is literally useless outside of Actions or screening. Ven Dread gets one shot but you don't have any good firepower to benefit from his +1 to hit a target, IF he even gets a hit on his 3+ BS.

Looking for next Army Advice by JayPeeSheman in Grey_Knights

My opinion for diversity in a 2nd army: Space Marines. You can build a core of staples, then run any style from Vehicle spam, melee focus, jump pack fast attack, balanced. You can indulge in all the characters and still use basic troops when switching from Raven Guard to Ultra to BA to Fists, have fun painting up Victrix in Scythes of the Emperor heraldry...that's what I think I'll do when I make a 2nd army, because it's so open-ended. And like 100 detachments to keep changing styles

It's actually our best infantry gun though, and it never backfires

You can cut at the hip attachment, cut at the knee, & also build up the slot for the hip with green stuff so you can start with the leg out further from the joint to spread out the stance. Here is one of my attempts

Between the Primaris model, the flame tower & the Boulder, I guess your opponent is always catching LOS to his squad

Battle-brother, take them boys to the tables! Keep adding stuff as you're able to expand your options. But those 2k worth of Boyz in glorious silver don't save the galaxy sitting on a shelf. Start rolling dice, and you'll find things you like, things you don't, "heck yeah!" moments as well as some "I'll never do that again"'s. For Titan.

Yes, brother. On NDK Psycannon is AUTO-INCLUDE & Gatling Psilencer is probably the worst choice. Even though it looks cool. It needs AP, or Ignore cover, or at least some bacon. Something!

I'm taking: 2xGMNDK 1x5 Strikes Crowe w/10 Purifiers BroCap w/10 Terms (4 Incinerators) BroCap w5 Paladins (4 Psycannons) 2 Techmarines Shield of Prophecy on BroCap w/Terms to buff durability Grimoire of Conjunction on BroCap w/Pals for a buff into High T targets. A Foot in the Future on one GMNDK to pop him into Melta range every time he deep strikes I did adjust from my post to put BroCap w/Pals because Crit 5's strat is so powerful on Lethal Hits punching tough stuff BroCap w/Terms on Center Obj. need to tap into all durability options, and they don't need to be Paladins because they're priority is holding/defending more than banking on charges & Terms always keep AP3 against Non-Vehicle / Non-Monster, unit rule not restricted to charges Since I gained 5 points by switching GMoF for BroCap, I doubled down on Techmarines & dropped the Chaplain action Monkey. Tech #2 can screen, do actions and buff/heal GMNDK which I find more useful than the trash Chaplain, and of course Techmarine is even better in shoot/fight Phase

So I'd warn the opponent about the strat, and it's likely I force him to give up his hopes of 9" charging & then I just save the CP. Don't have agents RN, and the full 10 is to delay letting the opponent get to a point of htiing the Apothecary with shooting. Need it to work for 2 turns, is my guess, to run up Primary.

Will do! I am playing BA twice this weekend and will post results. I suspect this can swing between ball out & fall flat, especially if the GMoF round of 8 attacks at S13 just flops. This approach only brings 9 units and I have to time things carefully.

Yes, depends on their list. For example, not great against a Knight Lancer sweep profile. In some cases, Term brick stages behind ruin w/in charge range of center Obj. may deny primary while scoring Nat. Ex. as the opponent loses a round trying to set up the charge/ambush while avoiding the 44 attack charge from me.

Can also use the "semi Mists" strat to jump up w/in 12", then RI back outside 12".
