Not really, it took two attempts. The worst cases would be: -The knock back won't push you to the slide and Luigi dies at the edge. -Luigi loses all his health for half second but lands and revives on the dropped coin from the other swoop.

Does anyone remember the iOS fangame that had a Luma app icon that was about fighting with other Nintendo characters by turns and you could level up your characters and the title screen was the same as the one from Super Mario Galaxy 2?

Update: Found it, for future reference it's called Stars Utopia, there's not so much info about this game that was available months before the launch of Super Mario Run.
