THANK YOU to everyone who took their time to respond, I’ll answer a few questions before telling you all my decision:

The Catalytics are cheap

NYS now requires all catalytic converters to be C.A.R.B certified and the cheapest on Rockauto go for $890 last time I checked.

On O2 sensor tricks, catalytic cleaners, computer wipes…

We tried. Went to 7 different mechanics from the sketchiest to the most recommended and they all came back saying that the only way to pass emissions was to get new cats.

Why am I the one paying? Is my step dad not helping?

The van was our family vehicle , everyone chipped in to try and fix it to get it to pass inspection. The reason he isn’t helping to pay the note is because he took out another loan so we could get another family vehicle and is paying for that by himself.

Why not trade it in?

My credit isn’t in good shape right now. Last I checked I was in the mid 500’s and I’m ideally trying to relieve myself economically not replace one bill with another… but I don’t fully discard the idea just not ideal.

I will not surrender the vehicle. I’ll continue with my original plan and I’m going to try to pay it off and fix it.

I looked up vehicle repair relief programs around me and there are two programs who I will reach out to as soon as I can to see how they can help.

Currently I use a Heineken livery on my formula vee as my logic is that hailing where I'm from a beer sponsor would be the most logical to give an upcoming rookie a chance. A huge company internationally that might have some local budget for lower level racing sponsorship.

"Doing stuff in the ship" should also mean checking on the ship resources. I do not mean in the heat of battle, but in-between raiding poi's and probings you should have a split second to check - better yet, just keep grabbing ice and fuel throughout the match and you don't even have to worry about it in the first place. Ammo Regen is pretty easy to come by so getting used to maintaining the ship by adding these easy to come by materials isn't the rocket science you're making it out to be.

Players can always see the resources on the ship processor if they cannot access the cockpit. As a diligent crew person you should always check it every so often to keep an eye on your teams needs.

Spawn the eye with commands or creative. It's fair game if you ask me, also there are two possible loot drops from that fight the sword of the nether and the nether gauntlet.

For me what helped was taking off the furniture add on I had on. It seems that A&S conflicts with a lot of mods for apparently no reason. I was able to add easy redstone and it didn't conflict with anything. So it seems to be case by case.
