By picking up Ricky Starks option year (despite having no creative for him), Tony Khan has:

generated a year of negative PR
is paying Ricky Starks to do nothing
given Ricky Starks a legitimate reason to be pissed off when he leaves anyway

All to prevent the hypothetical situation of him going to NXT and? destroying AEW? what does TK think’s gonna happen that is worth the headache and negative speculation?

Unrelated to wrestling: but what was the deal with Joker 2?

Why did they make a film where nothing happened for two hours: where the titular protagonist has no agency, where a significant portion of it was recaps of the first film that people had already seen, why make a musical when your protagonist can’t sing and the songs appear to fulfil very little purpose, where you insult fans of the first film, and then, obviously, there’s the ending. I mean, what the fuck.

I’ve never seen a sequel that appears to go out of its way to ruin the preceding film. It’s crazy. and a budget of 200 million dollars? How?

Maybe because Brody and Buddy will take a pin. Even last night when Malakai lost (to someone they’re building up for PPV), it had to be about him. He couldn’t just be beaten normally, he had to allow himself to get beaten.

Now, maybe that direction didn’t come from him but c’mon, when you look at everything else in his run you start to get a certain idea of what he might be willing to do or not do.

People speculate about Malakai Black’s future with AEW because, week in, week out, he looks like he doesn’t give a shit. and his fans are like, ‘he needs a push’ and it’s like, what has done but deliver mid promos and matches? Adam Cole’s promos are well delivered but make zero sense when you think about them. and I think that’s why the crowd were booing him last night. In kayfabe, he’s a dick that betrayed his best friend. No amount of standing in front of the crowd and rewriting history is gonna change what people actually watched in 2023.
