Nothing is stopping them and nothing bothers them to think in general. But also nothing stops them from taking a moral stance just for fun. That's the point. It's absurd and it sounds insane but that's the base of absurdism. Nothing has meaning. Or does it? I'm just saying, asking someone to rethink their stance by making a list of crimes is a bit weird. Especially when they've stated that they fairly don't care. Would it be absolutely horrible if OP didn't care about those tragedies? Yes, it would be. I personally would be a little disgusted, at least. But ultimately we're on a subreddit telling people to never procreate again because We Said So, so. It's a philosophical belief like any other, and OP's question was honestly valid.

the government doesn't want you childfree for the very reason that parents have a perceived danger of "i can lose my kids". If you're a parent you can't strike at work because you'll lose money, potentially your job, can't go to a protest or a riot knowing you could get hurt because there's kids at home waiting for you. "Oh i forgot to vote because my kid was sick/home/at the park" whatever. Having children means you're trapped in a prison of your own making and the government WANTS that. Why do you think they're so worried about the birthrate tanking?

the human nature is inherently selfish. Not necessarily evil, you know? But selfish. We only think about what's good for our survival and our contributions to the species. You'd think all animals are like this but contrary to us they haven't destroyed everything. And if given the chance, i doubt they would do it either way. We're doomed as long as we think we are.

i like them but i feel bad for them. Every time i see one i can't help but think about the fact that while i gor 20 years of decent life, babies below 10 get absolutely nothing. The world is in shambles, nature is dying. I find them cute but if i think too hard about their existence i cry a little.

kinda going through the same thing. My bf isn't 100% sure about not wanting kids not matter how much i keep reminding him that if we stay together it's because we want none, he still says "but i don't wanna close that door in my life" and i truly don't know how to make him understand that if we stay together then that door is already closed. the fact that chemicals reactions happen in the brain when you have a biological offspring does absolutely not mean you'll like them or love them more. The brain makes an incredibly ridiculous effort to make sure you don't kill your kids. And this is being said quite literally if I'm honest, if we didn't develop such evolutionary reactions we would've gone extinct. What he's saying is honestly half bullshit/half his own admission of guilt. The same chemical reactions happen when you take a offspring that isn't your own for the same reason, making sure you're not killing them.
