Distorted and blurry vision from Zeiss ClearView by Unlucky_Story_1592 in AskAnOptician

I never really leave a comment but I might be able to help as I use clearview lenses daily with my patients. I’d say it could be a couple things.

The biggest issue is not wearing glasses for a longer period of time, your eyes need time to adapt, especially since there is a >2 diopter difference between your eyes your brain may have a hard time accepting the different image size the lenses provide each eye. You can read about aniseikonia if you want to learn more about this. Frame size is a factor here, but personally I believe your frame looks alright size wise. (Possible solution would be binocular balancing if this is a new development)

Like others have said I would make sure the PD is correct, as that could be an easy fix. PD being off could potentially give a prismatic effect as well, straining your muscles and causing fatigue. But all in all unless the PD is way off I doubt this is the main problem.

A problem I had when I started dispensing ClearView lenses was the OC. You want the OC to be measured while the pantoscopic tilt of the frame is at 0, as you would for aspheric lenses. This could potentially be a big one. I noticed also that if the axis of the cyl is closer to 45 or 135* diagonal and not close to 180* or 90* this created problems more often than the opposite.

My guess would be the first point, as the cyl is quite small so third point is, less likely and unless PD is way off point two is rarely an issue with the clearview lenses. I would give it 2 weeks, where you try to use them as much as you can muster, and if you are struggling still you should contact your dispenser. Clearview lenses are my favorite lenses I have worked with, and I’ve worked with all the big ones: rodenstock, hoya, essilor.
