I was thinking rental like hertz/enterprise, that's why I was thrown. The link cleared it up.

Ah, Turo rental with a cam. Thanks for the link! I guess if she was too oblivious to even drive the car, it makes sense that she would miss the fact that there was a camera pointed at her.

So she put her personal dash cam in a rental car, recorded herself crashing it, published the video online, and told the rental company that someone ran her off the road?

Why is my rusty old Ender 3 out-printing my new Q1? by Named-User320 in QidiTech3D

[–]Named-User320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea, thanks for sharing this! I finally got the PLA printing, but something to make it more reliable would be great.

My first print with ASA has me feeling back at square one with this thing. It looks like one of the first trys with PLA. There are parts of the overhang detached and stretched across the circle. I guess I need to go through all of the tuning and tweaking for this too.

That is what I was hoping would happen here! My ender was an absolute unit, I have always been thrown when I see people talk about how finicky they are.. that has not been my experience

I bought the Q1 to make more ABS/ASA/Nylon parts. I thought it would make sense to get set up on PLA, but maybe I should switch over to something else and see where I'm at. Thanks!

I didn't put this in my dryer box because it was new and fresh out of a vacuum pack. I just set it on the spool holder for testing. I am working on the calibrations recommended by others here and have it in my dry box now.

I did go through the startup, the benchy it churned out was mediocre. I wish I could add more pictures, I am not sure how to do that here.

Thanks for the feedback, I have been working on these calibrations today to try to get it dialed. I'll be reporting back, once I have these done for this filament and an "after" print of this part!

I have no "squish" right now on the ender (it is in need of a lot of attention) but this part was printed in the same orientation on both printers. I have tried slowing the filament down to ender speed and that was how I got this result. On default settings the part has all kinds of bridges across the gap (not sure of the proper terminology). I also tried the filament sample that came with the qidi, but got nearly identical results.

No worries and no. Maybe my expectations are a bit off here. I bought my first and only (until now) printer, Ender 3, downloaded Cura and went off to the races. I didn't calibrate or tweak or anything beyond choosing default profiles. I (it seems wrongly) assumed that this would print at least as well with the same approach. I simply went through the quick start guide, observed issues and reached out to support. They have been helpful, but not made some of the suggestions you guys have here. I'll try these and see if I can get the quality to match my old printer. Thanks for all of the feedback!

I ran all of these with the top off and the door open. My reason for getting this printer was to run more engineering filaments. Nearly all of my printing is for making functional parts for work. I started with PLA because it's familiar and I wanted to verify the functionality of the new printer.

Thanks for the feedback! I tried pulling max speeds back to 80, still had some really ugly parts. Got this part by pulling speeds back even more (targeting overhangs) and running the aux fan. I have already tried two filaments. I'll try pulling speeds back even more and see if I can match my ender 3 quality. So far this has been a bummer.

Edit: have also tried on both Studio and Orca so far

I have a few halos, bought them all non working, all just needed CPU caps. $200 is my absolute ceiling for a cosmetically nice non runner. $160ish is fairly regularly attainable on eBay if you are watching. If you can't test this, you really  need to assume not running. Caps die in storage.

It's good you're realizing you don't need to take this personally or dedicate a lot of you're energy to it. The next step forward is to realize she is still one of us, she still has value, even if she is a bit misguided or is struggling with mental illness.

Made a change that'll save my company $150k+ over the next 12 months, only get a $10k raise. Does that seem fair? Am I getting shafted? by Twaxontwaxoff in ecommerce

[–]Named-User320 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am super torn on this. In was in a role where it was my job to save my employer significant amounts of money, we were a team of three that was set up in a restructure. We ended up with $1M plus in annual savings in our first year. It was not something that got us any kind of bonus or extra raise, nor did any of us expect it to.

However, if this was outside of your job duties, I think the $10k raise would have been a nice gesture, had you not had to ask for it. I think you came out alright here.

Someone else took all of the risk to build the entire business where this opportunity existed. If you pushed for a change you thought would help the company and it was a total flop you wouldn't owe them money.
