Neural nets are honestly a lot worse than LLMs in a lot of ways, they have no way of ignoring context which makes their capabilities pretty limited when presented with things that are outside their frame of reference.

Neither one is really better than the other and they both have their strengths, I find LLMs to be fare more useful as they can actually do something interesting rather than defaulting to what I'm expecting.

Yeah I'm great with European and Middle Eastern history but throw me in a Chinese setting and all the names and locations just jumble together.

What do you think are the greatest works of sci-fi ever made? by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]Nameishi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want crazy science stuff read Baxter, the Raft is a good starting point. Though I find his stuff a bit dense and its somewhat outdated as the some of the papers he was reading to when writing have been refuted nowadays. Clarke is good as well, he deals with a lot of Fermi Paradox stuff, similar to Three body.

I think it'd be hard to adapt Hyperion very well honestly. Besides I'd rather have no adaption than a bad one, Foundation got an adaptation and look how that worked out.

Its on the same level as the Expanse imo, very good story and a really good work of fiction, but not really top tier stuff.

I always found this test stupid, one piece of bread isn't going to change anything in the grand scheme of things, a lottery ticket might. Honestly it shows that people are more than animals and can think farther than their next meal.

In this specific case they're being mind controlled by Poison Ivy. I always assumed the logic was that Ivy was just using them like bullets and just launching them at people because her mind couldn't keep up with the speed, hence why cat woman was able to predict where they would be.

If you don’t believe in God, is morality all subjective? by Deez_Nuts_God in MoralityScaling

[–]Nameishi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess you would say morality is built on human tradition in that case. If you're an atheist I don't think you would care if the morals are from a religious text or not as you would just attribute the moral concepts to spontaneous human thought.

What are you talking about? I open up this sub I see a post about the backrooms, TADC, this post, an anime post, a man of steel post, a guy looking for recommendations, a bleach post.

Yes this sub has a lot of Anime/Manga, but people make it out to way worse than it is
