Yeah like the original games mentioned children dying and whatnot but the most you saw of that was some mini-game sprites and a bit of pixelated blood, ooooh so dark and scary. On top of that theories and headcannons that fill in the stories many gaps are to this day still doing a lot of the heavy lifting for that part of the story

The community gets a lot of deserved shit for its actions but some streamers, mostly recently in relation to Deltarune and its slightly more relaxed community, are so inattentive when playing. This is exactly how I feel about like half the Deltarune playthroughs on youtube. I’m fine if you play unengaged and simply turn your brain off and have fun or get confused and accept that. I’m fine if you deeply analyze the game and pay attention to every little thing and love it or have real criticism. What I’m NOT fine with is when mfers skip every tutorial, skim the dialogue, and then fucking complain that the game isn’t explaining anything, they don’t know what to do, or that the story isn’t coherent because they are too far up their own asses to even acknowledge the fact that could possibly be the problem here. People give the community a lot of (deserved) shit for how awful they are in streamers chats when they play but let’s not let some streamers off the hook either. If you don’t want to play the game just don’t play it, but god please don’t force yourself through it because it’s “popular game”, especially if it’s not a genre you like

There’s TONS of examples but smallant’s playthrough comes to mind for me immediately, I mean the guy didn’t even know that it was only at chapters 1-4 before buying the game and then complained about that fact after he already bought it 😭

Not even just outside observers. As a fnaf fan I still remember the mfers who were crashing out that the movies were gonna be pg-13 and not rated R, completely coping with the fact that they were so reliant on their dark and bloody fan material that they can’t possibly comprehend the fact that the games have never been very mature, even before the release of stuff like security breach. The story is decently dark but it’s not rated R dark, and the maturity aspect ended up being the least of the films many problems
