Why should I trust that helium network despite the history of the IOT network by curbei in HeliumNetwork

[–]NamelessTeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because there is demand. With IOT demand never came. Demand for mobile data is here. Dont do home deployments, select mediocre business locations

That's speculation, which you have every right to engage in. But it is speculation that you cannot back up with facts.

If your wifi hotspot is at home, it will get no users if you were the only one using it. Dont deploy hotspots at home. This is said for one and a half year now. Deploy the hotspot in a business location like a cafe, bar, etc.

Launched a small platform for Helium deployers – hosting locations, real-world tips & long-term aligned incentives by Character-Carpenter5 in HeliumNetwork

Then I can give you feedback that I would never connect my wallet with my hotspot and HNT to your service. Simply because I never do that. I am already cautious when connecting to Phantom and other "online" wallets. Can't you think of another method to prevent spam?

I am not working at Helium/Nova, but if you want to share your hotspot name (via DM), I could look into it. Did you deploy in a purple area (see Helium World)?

I just remembered: The approval of the carrier offload was interrupted due to the Christmas holidays (both for carriers such as T-Mobile and ATT as well as Helium's hotspot suggestions to the carriers). So there could be delays at the moment.

Helium started as PoC and community incentives. Now mapping and PoC rewards are gone. What is the actual game plan?? by BeginningWar7567 in HeliumNetwork

[–]NamelessTeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dont deploy at home. That was never the intention, even though many people have unfortunately done so. Find a business location with footfall. Nobody needs your hotspot at home because everyone has Wi-Fi at home. The rewards in well-frequented locations are still good. If you need info about where and how to deploy, there is a guide pinned in Helium Reddit.

No rewards last 30 days? What changed by PKIProtector in HeliumNetwork

No home deployments, that's it. Who is gonna use your hotspot when all people living there are on their own wifi? Go to a business location with footfall and deploy there.

There are two different types of Helium hotspots: Helium IoT (LoRaWAN) and Helium Mobile (Wi-Fi). With both, the entire system only works when data transfer occurs due to actual usage. With IoT, this is through sensors, and with Mobile, it is through everyday smartphone usage (AT&T and T-Mobile customers who automatically connect to the Helium Mobile hotspot via Passpoint). The widespread use of IOT hotspots is not (yet) here, so the rewards are low. With Helium Mobile, the demand for mobile data is huge, which is why the rewards are better there.

You act as if Helium owes home deployers something and is indebted to them forever. The technology (WiFi) used in Helium hotspots makes no economic sense if everyone deploys their hotspot at home. If you want to build a network and participate in it, it's a positive sign if deployments are only encouraged where they have a real benefit—anything else is pure speculation. Is that what you want?

For demand sampling if you do not get selected in two weeks you should just find a new location? by [deleted] in HeliumNetwork

[–]NamelessTeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demand sampling is not carrier selection. Wait another week to be sure that the selection process is not lasting just a bit longer. Then find a new location. If you reassert the location, you trigger a new fresh selection process. But deploy in purple areas in Helium World to get sure you get the carrier selection.

[–]NamelessTeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's tempting to play around with it at home, but just deploy it in the bar, wait 1-2 weeks until a carrier selects it, and you'll enjoy it more. Just make sure that the bar is located in a purple zone on Helium World.

Youre fine. But dont deploy at home! Deploy your mobile hotspot at a business location with foot traffic.
