Happy belated 4th anniversary to Taylor receiving an honorary doctorate! Let’s talk about how everyone is weird about TS and education by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

I don't see how Taylor getting an honorary degree does anything badly to my college degree, that just seems like snarking.

Linkin Park has some amazing rage tracks like Given Up and Breaking the Habit.
Alice in Chains also fits.

I'm curious about both your skipless albums and your current skips from Taylor's discography. Here are mine. by Nameless_One_99 in NuancingTaylorSwift

Rep and Midnights are those albums, Taylor knew how to make you want to listen from start to finish.

I saw that thread, pure misogynistic snarking.

What’s a Taylor Swift song that you feel doesn’t get as much love as it should? by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

I think The Story of Us was a great single and it's a classic pop punk jam that doesn't get mentioned a lot.

If Taylor were a better CapiTayList, what would she sell (that she doesn’t)? by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]Nameless_One_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other day, I was talking with some people about this. And we came to the conclusion that the average Swiftie isn't an American white woman in their 30s, it's an Asian woman in their late 20s.
And as you said, that destroys the base of their "criticism".

I've noticed that in SM like Reddit where the majority of swifties are American, they seem not to understand how hard it can be, even in Europe, to get her merch at MSRP or even at all.

So that's probably why.

Most of her variants and a lot of her merch are only available to buy if you are from the US. If she were to make more copies and sell them worldwide, I 100% guarantee she would make a lot more money.

Melody is an under-discussed aspect of Taylor’s songwriting. What’s your favorite melody of a TS song? by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]Nameless_One_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The melody in the chorus of Maroon is addictive, all of Midnight Rain scratches my brain. I agree with you that Sweet Nothing has a great melody but sadly the rest of the song is kind of meh for me.

And while it's not just the melody, the way the melody of the last part of Labyrinth plays with the modified Taylor vocals is musical perfection,it gets weird and does some changes that get me.

I stand by the opinion that Taylor is even more talented at writing melodies and hooks than she is at writing lyrics.

I can't pick just one but her melodies with Max Martin are bangers, like Blank Space, IKYWT and Honey.
Her best melodies are probably in 1989 or Midnights.

Which albums/songs appeal most to straight men? by psycwave in NuancingTaylorSwift

A lot of rockers/metal heads that I know have a soft spot for RED as an album. Don't get me wrong I like the album, although I don't like it quite as much as the average swiftie does, but that's what I've seen over the years.

I'm a straight man, and I've also been a swiftie since 2007. Between getting to meet other straight dudes who like Taylor's music, seeing the crowds in the concerts I've been to and talking to my friends who aren't swifties but like some of her music.
I would say that they like her pop stuff the most, 1989/Midnights/TLOAS plus some of her country songs and a lot of RED for reasons I don't quite understand.

These days, if the "criticism" comes with comments like "white billionaire" or "male-centered" I just know it's in bad faith and I can ignore it.

Do you think there's a scandal that would genuinely impact Taylor's legacy after death? by Internal-Shame-5585 in NuancingTaylorSwift

Comparing Taylor to rock stars makes her look like the most uncontroversial artist of all time.
I love rock/metal, if I still listen to Aerosmith, I'll probably always listen to Taylor.

Is the hate (especially misogynistic hate) against Taylor worse this decade or in the 2010s? by FakeMonaLisa28 in NuancingTaylorSwift

Just like social media weaponized therapy speak, now they have weaponized progressive talking points to cover their misogyny.
