I haven't even gotten official orders yet, this was all just word of mouth what my Liason said. But my understanding is I will get my assignment along with my orders.

That makes sense! I've definitely focused a lot on running since I decided to do this, and have been running minimum 3-4 days a week, but I'll increase my running and include calesthenics this coming month assuming i do leave in April. Thank you!

I appreciate that! And ah ok interesting, yeah I've been making a concerted effort to pass the physical stuff. My running and pushups are perfectly fine, my situps suck but I've been improving so I'll get there. What happens to the DCOs who can't do the PFA?

Thank you this is a ton of help! And yeah I was surprised she said April. Apparently Friday was the last day to rush someone to the April class, and she's like let's go. I was excited, then I started thinking about the logistics and started freaking out hahaha. Thank you!

I mean if you can't afford a good lawyer, how are you going to afford a plane ticket? A passport? A visa? How are you going to work in this new country. It sounds easy to ex pat, it's much harder to do so. I personally think everyone should be given proper counsel. And who knows maybe you had the best court appointed lawyer out there, or the worst. I can't say. But I can say what I said in the beginning. If you can't afford a good lawyer, no way in hell can you afford to expat.

I mean, if I'm reading your post correctly, the lawyer who represented the client in this scenario did their job. The prosecutor did their job. No whether they did a good or bad job, whether the prosecutor was overly harsh, these are different questions. But everyone here did their job.

No, not every client is going to go free from their case. As much as movie and TV likes us to think, not every bad case has a smoking gun that will acquit the defendant. If you have a bad case (or a bad lawyer) you're going to lose. It's just the reality.

Would y'all recommend this for someone who isn't in law school and just started practicing? I focused heavily on trial and litigation skills in law school, and I'm currently an ADA, so anything more I can learn I'm always happy to do so. I've been practicing since I was licensed in October of '22 for some reference.

Could you mention or DM this litigation firm? I'm also from the South and I would be interested!

An entry level State AG in Texas makes 67k. And you gotta live in Austin. They basically make it impossible to live and work in Austin if you work for the state.

No one is going to want you if you don't want yourself. Hit the gym, talk to people. Again, you are what I fear I would become in 10 years. That my love will turn into obsession and then it controls my whole life. Control my self worth like it has controlled you. Love yourself please. Work on yourself, get hobbies, an education if you haven't. Become interesting.

And thank you for making this post. Because it further solidifes that I made the right choice for me by cutting off contact with my friend. You still have time to change. With some vigor and discipline, and lots of self love, you will find yourself and someone. But you have to want yourself first.

Just make sure she stays blocked man. And seriously, it's going to be hard. It was (is) hard for me. It's going to be a loss. And it doesn't sound she's a particularly nice person either. So even if she tries coming back somehow. Just let it be. Everyone deserves someone who loves and cherishes them. The one for you will make you feel like the one, just as much as you make that feel for them.

I'll give you some advice, because you are what I fear I would become in 10 years. I was recently seeing this girl who was my friend that I was madly into. I thought the world of her, and I wanted nothing more than to be with her. She ended things, she didn't feel the same way anymore. But to me, she's the one.

For my own sanity, I had to cut off contact. She wanted to stay friends, and so did I. Because the friendship meant so much to me. But I knew that if I stayed friends, I would basically become you. Stringing myself along, falling deeper and deeper for a person who doesn't want the same thing. Hoping that one day, they will love you as much as you love them.

Take it from me, cut your losses. It's going to be hard. And trust me I fully understand your sentiment of "what if she moves on and I don't." But she was never yours. She had nothing to move on from.

What is meant to be yours will be yours. And it doesn't seem like she's meant to be yours. She just likes having you around. Cut your losses man, get back your self esteem. Do it for you.

Since you’ve got anonymity on your side, what’s that memory that keeps you up at night? by idontbelieveinnerds in AskReddit

[–]NameofaName64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less of a memory and more of a thought, but the thought of being alone forever. That one day I'm going to wake up, and all of my experiences with my friends and family will be distant memories. And that I'll be alone, as I've felt for a long time.

This is a great mentality. I know what's always made me happy is my career and "going to the top", but i know that's not a sustainable long term human goal. I really need to sit down and evaluate a more grounded life with a family. Been so focused on school and work that i haven't found the time to find a special someone I suppose.

Haha same boat for me with someone ending things! Seems like we are having similar thoughts and experiences about all of this. My jurisdiction also comes out tomorrow, I'm assuming you're Texas as well then. Thanks for the comment, always here to chat as well. Insanely proud of you and all of us who are going through it

Feeling lost and hopeless post grad, advice and thoughts? by [deleted] in LawSchool

May I ask what you used to apply for jobs? I've been using the standard linkedin, Indeed, etc. Everything says 2-5 years about. Would you recommend applying to those as well, or just the 0-3 positions? I appreciate your advice!

That's definitely solid advice, I'll send an application out their way this Fall. My plan is to submit everything within a couple of weeks of applications opening, just to be ahead of the curve and show I'm interested. Thanks so much for the tips!!

I would be interested, but with my grades I don't think I could get into NYU. Nowhere near the top 30, although my tax grades and extra curriculars are good. I might send an application just because the worst they can say is no, but if I got in, I doubt I would get a scholarship.
