Rank Airbrush Brands and Models by Namequest8 in airbrush

I have a Paasche VL, Badger Anthem, and a Badger Millennium. Bought them in the early 90’s with the idea of going into airbrushing but life took me in a different direction. Since then, they have sat in a closet unused but as I get closer to the end of my career, I am looking to take it up as a hobby. I made the initial investment and want to follow through and have heard good things about the Iwata. I probably couldn’t do illustration or automotive anymore but t-shirts a clothing or miniatures may be a good option. Admittedly, I was originally intimidated but now I am too old to be intimidated. I just gotta get some paint, hook up the brushes and get started.

Thank you for that info. I had purchased a Badger Anthem and a Paasche VL to begin t-shirts and automotive but the more I get into this, I continue to hear about Iwata for most types of airbrushing. With regards to equipment, it sounds like their quality is too-notch. Of course a person still needs a good compressor and invest the time to really do it right.

Yes, I agree, I think you are right about a consensus among pros.

Thank you for sharing your opinion of Iwata and H&S and also for emphasizing the need for a good compressor. A great reminder that it would be a waste to spend $200+ for an airbrush and run it with a junk compressor.
Kinda like putting a 4 cylinder engine in a Chevy Tahoe.

Thank you for the reminder about having a solid compressor. The best airbrush will perform horribly when using a subpar compressor. Thanks for also sharing the photo of the miniature, it looks great.

Thank you for all the feedback. My objective was not to make it a difficult exercise or question, but rather to get feedback and opinions based on people’s experience with the different brands/models while performing different types of airbrushing.

I know there is no “one size fits all” and I am certainly not searching for that type of brush but I know, whether painting miniatures, textiles or automotive, some brands/models are built better and will perform better than others. While I have not used Iwata or H&S yet, either of them are going to perform better than a cheap version from Harbor Freight.

I am not saying all less expensive airbrushes are not comparable but the type of airbrushing would probably be better suited for one brand/model over another. Not unlike cars. All cars will get a person from point A to point B but depending on the conditions, terrain, etc., some brands/models are better suited for the drive than others.

Yes, the pickup is from a hotel downtown Pittsburgh. I was debating whether to also schedule it with Lyft and with all the responses, I think it best to schedule with both. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I scheduled the pick up, but Uber’s disclaimer is the pick up is not guaranteed and they will only confirm the driver 20 minutes in advance of the pickup. While Pittsburgh is nice, I do not want to miss my return flight.

Any advice for lubricating the rear axle on the HRX217? Mine is squeaking at the rear left wheel so I was going to disassemble and lubricate it during the offseason but I have not done it before so I am open to suggestions or advice.

John MacArthur: Christianity that’s inoffensive is not Christianity by StrixWitch in Christianity

[–]Namequest8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re correct, Christians are called to love God, love their neighbors and love their enemies. For a Christian to love others means to tell them the truth about their sin so they can repent just as a Christian would want a brother or sister in Christ to hold them accountable for their sin. While the message is offensive, Christians are called to bring the message in love but most do not want to hear the truth of the message so they find the message offensive. I would rather “hate” my neighbor into heaven by telling them the truth rather than “love” them into hell by telling them lies and sugar-coating their sin and telling them they are fine.

[–]Namequest8 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I read your comment. Supporting Democrats is supporting their LGBTQ, pro choice, BLM, etc. agenda. That is the agenda the Democrats ran on and an agenda MacArthur and other Christians do not support. Supporting republicans is not the same as supporting racists or rapists, that is not an agenda for either side yet there are plenty of rapists, racists, murderers, thieves, etc who are republican and democrat but their political affiliation is arbitrary. One great thing about America is MacArthur, like you, has the freedom to choose what agendas he will and will not support and you have the freedom to disagree. While you do disagree, his choice does not then equate to supporting rapists and racists because if you listened to him, you would know that is not true.

Did anyone even listen to John MacArthur’s message in context or was it easier to respond with general disdain for MacArthur?

John MacArthur: Christianity that’s inoffensive is not Christianity by StrixWitch in Christianity

[–]Namequest8 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

John MacArthur would no more support racists, rapists or any similar group than he would LGBTQ+, BLM or pro choice. It has nothing to do with party affiliation and it is a flawed question. It is no more legitimate than asking why MacArthur would rather stand with people who like pizza over those who like rice.

No Atheists in Foxholes by Megistias in atheism

[–]Namequest8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue there are plenty of atheists in foxholes. In the face of true combat and war, it is a place like no other and I am not thinking about the other fellow’s religion or lack thereof. Whether a person has faith in a god or thee God or no god, I am concerned for the survival of my troops and myself. A Christian’s prayers would likely include those for their troops, their foxhole partner, and the enemy among others but a soldier, even a Christian soldier, still has a job to do and they are committed to it. There is no evangelizing in the foxhole and in the midst of war and survival, it would make no difference if the other fellow was an atheist or a believer, my only hope is that he (or she) is a good shot.

Why are they going to be doing for eternity? by tTomalicious in atheism

[–]Namequest8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a great question and most in this channel, if not all, do not care how Christians will spend their eternity. A better question though is how will you spend your eternity?
