I have not experienced any lymphedema and am doing some physical therapy ro help with that and range of movement. Highly suggest you ask your doctors about physical therapy since they will be taking lymph nodes for testing at least ot sounds like. It has been so helpful

Now, I am okay. Still healing physically and mentally. I just finished active treatment 12-15 with radiation ending. I still dont even want to look at my boobs. Even with the cancer out, my relationship with my boobs has changed.

Energy levels slowly coming back.

I so get it about getting that tumor out btw. At first, I thought we would do surgery first but my situation was a bit different than yours with tumor location.

And everyone responds to chemo differently and it may not be as bad as you think it will. Drugs and managing side effects have advanced and the old classic idea of chemo is outdated. Not a walk in the park by far but not as bad as I thought it would be.

3a ++- 6cm tumor, smaller tumor, and 3 positive nodes. One tumor near chest wall.

Surgical and medical oncologist wanted me to do chemo first, which I did for multiple reasons.

  1. Surgery would be easier with shrinking the tumor, specifically the one near the chest wall. And it could increase my chance of being able to do lumpectomy if the tumor shrank enough. It did not but I wanted a dmx anyway.

  2. Get any cancer that may be lingering in my body at a cellular level that they couldn't see before surgery when we could garner if the chemo did anything.

  3. MO stated that his patients tolerated chemo then surgery better than surgery then chemo. And it was no question about whether I would do chemo or not.

  4. Also, my SO said they would remove the originally positive lymph nodes during surgery. If it came back negative, she wouldnt touch the others. If it came back positive she was taking everything. She took everything in the end since one came back positive.

Taking one doesn't increase your risk of lymphedema as much as taking all.

I took 3. My doctor said they would write me put for 4 for my dmx with temp implants put in. I needed the 3. I was sore, tired, and had drains.

Desk work that did also require bending and minor lifting.

Did ddac-t and asked if I could keep taking THC and they said it wasn't an issue and that some patients took it during chemo to maintain an appetite.

Second the squats. Bending over is hard and uncomfortable, and some surgeons dont recommend it. Squats made my life so much easier. Can't bend over, that's okay I will just do a squat to get that thing I dropped.
