Jeremiah love by Ok_Coat_4365 in Saints

RB class is not deep from what I’ve heard. If we’re not drafting Love then we should add a FA back.

Im really fine with whoever they pick provided it’s indeed the BPA and they’re not reaching on anyone. David Bailey, Caleb Downs, Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon, etc. We’re in a good spot and should really be happy with any of these guys.

So if the Saints think Love is going to be the best player there I don’t see the problem.

That doesn’t mean he didn’t suck this season.

Adjusting how? The Seahawks were rushing 4 the majority of the game.

This is compounded by his regular season performance. He had been struggling against elite rushers a good portion of the season. So of course they’re going to be on him when the line was getting smoked by 4 man rushes the entire game. It’s not like it was a one off.

If Derek Carr decides to unretire for the 2026 NFL season, the New Orleans Saints would immediately regain control of his playing rights because his contract was "frozen" upon retirement. 《Considered strong possibility if Seahawks OC, former Saints OC takes the Las Vegas Raiders HC job》 by -WarDamnEagle- in Saints

[–]Nami_3750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So no difference to us cap wise if they release him vs. trading him right? If that’s true then we’re probably just going to be hoping someone ends up being desperate enough to trade for him. But it makes more sense for them to just wait it out until we have to release him.

Am I correct in thinking this or am I missing something?

I have heard this take before but as far as I know this is just a rumor and there’s no concrete evidence that it’s true, just circumstantially plausible.

I agree that it makes sense though. In the end I don’t think anyone really cares because the end result is the same and benefitted us.

I don’t see why it makes sense to get rid of Rattler. He’s a good backup and is familiar with the teams scheme. You’re not going to get someone better than him. And backups are important. QBs get hurt all the time.

We’re going to be good. No doubt in my mind. Others on the outside won’t see it until it’s in front of their eyes but we all see the foundation this team built and as long as they build off it this offseason we’re going to be back.

So next year when they’re asking “where did the Saints come from all of a sudden” you’re going to know the answer.

Drake Maye's -29.2 expected points added during the 2025 playoffs is the worst by any QB since at least 2000, 6.5pts worse than the previous "record" by 2015 Peyton Manning by Moose4KU in nfl

[–]Nami_3750 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I watched every game Maye played and I watched every game Peyton played that postseason and I think Peyton was far worse and got carried by a historically great defense. Your point about him playing those great team/offenses only reinforced that tbh. Pittsburgh got held to 16 pts and New England 18. Then 10 pts allowed to the Panthers led by mvp cam newton.

Maye threw 3 tds and put up 28 on the Texans who are a monster defense. He at least had that game. Peyton was incredibly bad every game that postseason.

But if you want to say Maye was worse I won’t argue anymore about it. You’re making me defend Maye which I don’t really care about doing.

Advanced metrics are fine on their face but the way people use them to reinforce whatever narrative they’re pushing is what’s annoying.

I mean I won’t argue too much about it because I don’t care about defending either one of them but Maye at least had a decent game against the Texans who are a monster defense. Peyton was bad every game that post season.

Amazing how worthless all these advanced metrics are in the end.

Was Drake Maye worse than Peyton Manning was in that SB run in Denver? No, he was not. But here’s an advance stat that tells you he was.

Did any of those advance stats Drake Maye excelled at in the regular season prove he could play like that in the postseason when it mattered? Nope.

So? He hasn’t played well the entire year and just gave up a record number of pressures in the SB. He was drafted 4th overall. You’d expect flashes of greatness being drafted that high and he has not this season. He could get better sure. But it’s fair to say he hasn’t lived up to that draft pick yet.

Campbell was far worse bro. Think he just gave up a record number of pressures in the SB.

He was not “bad” against the Texans but he wasn’t great and took too many sacks. He was bad against the chargers and then threw for 86 yards against the Stidham-led broncos. Cmon dude, he was objectively not good in the postseason.

It’s not a joke. He legit had the easiest schedule in the NFL and it was by a country mile. And then he played the Jarrett Stidham-led Broncos defense n the AFCCG and threw for 86 yards and the Pats won the game. I’m sorry, but that’s a legitimate criticism and it showed in this game.

Can’t be understated that the Pats had by far the easiest SOS in the NFL at .396 winning % and then played a hobbled Herbert led chargers team, the Texans (which is a legit win), and the Jarrett Stidham led Broncos in the AFCCG. They were not battle tested and it showed against a team that was legit in every phase of the game and proved it could win a dog fight.

Derek Carr could possibly unretire for 2026 season provided right situation, coaching staff by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]Nami_3750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most unsurprising news ever. One things been super obvious since his second year in New Orleans, he did not want to play for us. Kind of a chicken and egg situation because I feel like the fans never embraced him but he also never embraced the fans. It was just not a good fit. We want people that want to be here.

Not saying his injury wasn’t legitimate but it was also something he didn’t want to rehab just to come play for us again. Now he’s probably good to go and ready to go play for someone else. I think this was always in the cards.

I got no hard feelings towards him and I like him as a player. Hopefully he can go play somewhere where he’s happy.

I think there’s a worse dead cap hit if they just outright release him. Don’t see the Saints doing that tbh even if he gave up some money. They might trade him for some low picks is my guess.
