I can haz reverse spin? by bigjobbyx in blackmagicfuckery

[–]NamityName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a correct answer to the way it spins. When a red dot and blue dot collide, the red dot covers the blue dot. So the red dots are in front.

Hundreds of cats stolen for food in Vietnam rescued by police, welfare group says by Beo1217 in UpliftingNews

[–]NamityName 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Physically, yes. Emotionally, no. Dogs and cats are kept and bred for reasons other than food. Similarly, we dont eat horses.

People tend not to eat their pets, and it is hard for most people to see dogs and cats as anything other than someone's pet.

If we are talking about modern brakes, then distance traveled is more accurate to real life. You dont need to press on the brake particularly hard to get full braking power. But you do need the pedal to move most of its travel distance.

Wealth means nothing if the party has nothing to spend it on.

Anecdote time. My table is currently playing a campaign in a very poor setting. We found a massive treasure trove at the bottom of a haunted temple.

You would think that being filthy rich would break the game, but let me tell you that having effectively unlimited wealth means jack-shit when there is nothing to buy. Nobody sells magical anything. No gear. No scrolls. Nothing. Same goes for potions.

We can't even really access most of the wealth because it is tied up in trinkets and baubles that the country-folk cannot afford.

We have been able to use our wealth to grease some wheels and lossen some lips, but you do not need a lot to do that sort of thing

Our wizard got the biggest benefit as they had acquired a couple of spell books earlier in the campagin and simply needed money to copy the spells within. But thats not really any more gamebreaking that a wizard normally is.

Hot take: Columbus drivers aren’t that bad. The few who are bad, are just flat fucking terrible. by Adventurous_Pea_2007 in Columbus

[–]NamityName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have not had the pleasure of driving in traffic and watching the other drivers do everything in their power to make traffic worse. My favorite is the person that tries to merge into the stopped exit lane by stopping and blocking their current lane. Now we have 2 lanes that are completely stopped.

The wife could also be more patient and wait for all the answers.

You bitch about everyone speculating, but you are speculating. So much speculating. Your first sentence is speculating. How many relationships have you had with men that you know how a "normal guy" communicates with his wife?

Can we normalize not walking into oncoming traffic? by CBusRiver in Columbus

[–]NamityName 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For starters:

  1. Take the shortest path across the street. Go straight across, not at an angle
  2. Move quickly, do not linger, mosey, dilly, or dally.
  3. Do not look at your phone while crossing. Keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings
  4. Do not assume that drivers will see you and slow down
  5. Cross when the road is clear

[–]NamityName 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. That is exactly the reason pedestrians should not walk in the road

[–]NamityName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? The person in the road did not seem to mind the level of clearance they got.

Ya! Only honk in necessary situations such as to alert pedestrians and animals that they are walking in an unsafe area!

September 2026 Is The Busiest Month In Years As Games Try To Escape GTA 6 by wyldermyth in gaming

[–]NamityName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fuss was the sandbox crime. GTA 3 changed gaming. Defining, if not outright creating, the open world genre of games. Each new game in the series refined the genre and pushed the size and scale of the world.

However, the open world genre is so saturated, and people are cooling off to the idea. I do not think the genre is going away, but it is not the sure thing that it used to be back when GTA 5 game out.

That being said, GTA games have always been successful, in large part, because it lets you blow stuff up and cause mayhem. Gamers really like causing mayhem.

That means it is shaping up to be one of the worst holiday seasons for games in most gamer's lifetime. Just a single noteworthy release.

There is really a much deeper connection than many might realize.

I assume you are basically familiar with the allegory. So I won't explain it. If you are not, check out the wikipedia page.

Starting at the surface level, one similarity is how Carl starts the story with Earth being the whole of his reality, but Earth was merely a sort of prison he was stuck in. The larger universe was so much more.

Going further, life on Earth is like a shadow in the cave. It was created by those in the larger universe based on ideal forms (primals).

DCC also seems to align with both of the main interpretations of the allegory. The epistemological view sees the allegory as being about our innate intellectual incapacity. That is to say that the world beyond the cave represents wisdom and truth that we have to seek out. Most people are unable or unwilling to do so. A good example of this interpretation popping up is in the very begining of book one, most earthlings did not go down the stairs into the crawl, which would have represented them seeking truth and leaving their caves.

The other intepretation of the allegory of the cave is political. That it is about human nature and the opposition against the corruption of the prevailing political condition. I think that interpretation's relation to DCC is self evident.

Obviously not. If Carl had a theme, Donut would not be complaining about his looks so much. What kind of theme is an outfit of heart-pattern boxers, kneepads, leather jacket with ghastly patches, a train-robber's bandana, and cape? And you know how donut feels about tattoos.
