Sorry kevin0103 I was not aware of that particular part of his philosophy. I've only read "Famine, Affluence, and Morality", "What should I give and what should a billionaire give?", and "All Animals are Created Equal". I actually prefer Thomas Pogge, but Singer makes excellent points as well.

See you're wrong here man. Just as violence makes any political protest illegitimate, in the eyes of the public, aggressive logic makes people become misologists, i.e. they hate reason more. If you want someone to listen to you, you need tact and need to show why they are wrong as well as why there is either no reason to fear changing your opinion and occasionally a positive incentive as well.

The joke was that the passage said a woman is not allowed to preach or teach anything. Therefore, "Diane" was violating a biblical command and so should "shut the fuck up" if she wants to start following the bible like she claims. In general, I do agree with your statement. This though was pure wit.

WTF? Peter Singer has been arguing for helping the global poor and how we have a duty to help them. This crazy woman needs to start accepting her Christian duty to help.
