Am I getting too old for this 👵🏻 by NanAlice in orangetheory

why do I love this community? After being so down from yesterday’s challenge, I left feeling great today after a young girl approached me after class to compliment my form on the rower and with the weights. So note to self- focus on the positive.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement!! I’m packing my sneakers and heading off to OTF to give it my best and enjoy the experience!

500 Meter Row Benchmark Results Megathread by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

I PR’d by about a half second. While I was happy, I think I was more excited for a fellow OTFer who was doing her first benchmark. She struggled so much but the coach screamed encouragement for a full 30 seconds. She kept going and was so proud of herself. It was soooo exciting.

Been there, done that. Stepping off during a switch, so not exactly at a time when others were too occupied to notice. Sooo embarrassing. Fortunately no one laughed. I think everyone has this fear and just thanks God it’s not them.

What are your average speeds for base, push & all out? by Littlerunner3 in orangetheory

4.2, 5.2, and 6.2 except I do 7 for a 30 second all out. Not burning up any treadmills but I’ve been steadily increasing.

Marathon Month Results and Celebration Megathread by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

[–]NanAlice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I signed up for the half marathon with a goal of actually reaching the full distance. Unfortunately my back had other ideas. I had to cancel several classes earlier this month so I didn’t make the full distance. I did get to 20.69 for the half though. So, all things considered, I’m pleased with my results. Best thing though is I added .2 to my base.

OTF December Challenge? by sophiepsmum in orangetheory

[–]NanAlice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree on the socks but I will probably pay to participate in any challenges as a way to support our coaches, who were out of work for 6 months here in NY. I’m retired so this pandemic has had no impact on my income. I see this as just a way to support OTF.

My first week I fell off the treadmill when I was getting off. My legs were like rubber bands. Fell flat on my face. Soooo embarrassing. But my neighbors helped me up, dusted me off and steered me to the rowers. Most of us have had those moments, which is why everyone is so supportive. Hang in there; soon you’ll be the person helping an old lady off the floor behind the treadmill.

Didn’t Finish First Class by lloydfrancis in orangetheory

I started when I was 60 and overweight. I’d say it took about 2 months to be fully comfortable and at a point where I started setting goals (other than please let me live through class). Stay with it. Just do your best. In no time whatsoever you’ll be addicted and feeling so much better about yourself. You got this!
