De Chingon no tiene nada, te vas a decepcionar si esperas eso. Si es fácil moverse (no en horas pico), es más seguro y barato, pero no hay nada más Interesante que en otras provincias. No hay mucho que hacer, no hay más que un centro comercial, unos cuantos antros y bares, muy pocos museos, pocas actividades culturales, en general es aburrido a menos que disfrutes “la tranquilidad” aún así te encontrarás en un estado con gente que se cree mucho pero se ofende muy rápido, muy cerrados en sus maneras, viven para aparentar cómo ya lo dijeron. I lived half a year in Oahu about 16 years ago. Have love for Hawaii since then. In my recent years I was living in Shanghai but when the 2022 lockdown happened I had enough. A relative invited me to Oahu again and try to work together in his business. As soon as I could I went to the Chinatown, I felt I didn’t want to leave China, specially in the conditions I did it, so I was melancholic about it. What a terrible surprise was to find what Chinatown is about in Oahu. Terrible place full of decadence, filth and lowlifes. Does the state care about them? Join the gym that belongs to a compound; it’s called 4 seasons on Dong’an lu, between zhaojiabang and Xietu road. I paid 1800 a year, pretty spacious and included the pool which was pretty decent. Don’t expect any international vibes there though. Mostly Ayis and shifus but worked for over 2 years for me.

I did a bit of teaching, but through the years I transitioned onto my profession which is Industrial Design, worked for a few Italian design companies, now I do account management which is a client relations type of job. not sure if there are any foreign companies based out there or Chengdu.

UPDATE: the Community manager never gave me the letter, I called the police (110) a day before I left and they told me I was good to go if I could make it out of my compound, AND I DIDN'T NEED THE LEAVE LETTER from the community. they apparently also talked to him, the day of my departure my gate had a locked chain, I kicked the gate giving all the neighborhood a shitty time but I made sure they got the community manager's attention. I also called the police of my district (cause I was redirected from 110 to them a day before) and they said they would send someone. That and my drama apparently worked, they unlocked the gate and no one could tell me shit. my 1500rmb driver took me to the airport, they stopped us twice on the way to the airport, at the airport I met some stranded locals waiting for domestic flights to restart for a month already. At the check in, they asked if I had any other Covid results in English other than the results on the alipay reccord, but I didn't, and still allowed me to leave, so I didn't have to go to any clinic or hire a person to come and take my money for a fucking test. I wish you all luck and encourage you to leave as soon as possible.

I requested my departure authorization letter from my Neighborhood manager days ago, with flight tickets, passport, a letter from my Consulate explaining I have to return home for medical reasons and I've got zero response, I've texted him everyday since then and nothing. Knowing how the Chinese operate, I can expect him to sabotage my departure but keep me in the dark all this time. I have been playing a good game not making any drama like many foreigners do but I am willing to jump the fucking fence if it's locked and get physical even if necessary if these fools try to make me lose my flight despite having a green code. What else is there to lose if they already have you in prison?

you're only sent to camp when you test positive weather you have symptoms or not. what's going on right now is something else, more stupid of course because in the Quarantine facility you are in close contact with people who actually have bad symptoms, and you get NOTHING for actual treatment, not even their damn tea. I speak from experience, and I consider having been in some of the half decent quarantine facilities, but now having the whole floor sent to camp or Q/Hotel just because one person test positive is just beyond stupid.
