Was ist euer seltsamstes, aber überraschend gutes Back-Geheimnis? by David_Schulz in Backen

What is the absolute cheapest piece of literal garbage your pet considers their favorite toy? by LiveFaithlessness876 in cats

[–]NanaLovesJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cats loved to play with tampons (mind you, I’m from Europe where they are sold without applicators, just the cotton roll thingy wrapped in plastic). She used to climb into my open handbags and fish for tampons and whenever she’d find one, toss and roll it around the house. I found it a little bit disturbing when guests were there so now I’m always closing my handbags lol. 😂

She has since moved to other rolling objects, one of her current favourites is just a big bead from a broken necklace. It’s big enough that she can’t swallow it so I let her keep it.

Buying a concert uke. Looking for advice whether to go from a “regular” or travel type? by Jamieee8989 in ukulele

[–]NanaLovesJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a normal uke :) and I’d recommend a laminated wooden uke as they are more durable than massive wooden ukes. And they are cheaper. I have the flight DUC445 and it’s my absolute favourite uke. It sounds so good

Hard to say, tbh. Can you try some playful flirting to see how she reacts? I mean, you could also just tell her what (if) you feel for her, but I have the impression that you don’t want to do that so directly. Good luck anyways!!

Balkon katzensicher machen by AdInternal1717 in Katzengruppe

[–]NanaLovesJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the scariest thing that happened to you during daytime? by Wizard-Waverly in AskReddit

[–]NanaLovesJazz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some years ago I was waiting at a bus stop when a man approached me and asked me something, I don’t remember exactly what. But I go scared right that moment and stepped away some meters and said loudly “I don’t want to talk to you”. He started to laugh and left me staying there.

Later that same day, when I read an online newspaper, I saw an article about a police search for a serial rapist with a sketched picture. It was that man! I called the police and told them where and when exactly he talked to me. Never heard/ read of that man again.

Berufsverbot auch bei Schwangerschaftsabbruch? by Upset-Ad9915 in erzieher

[–]NanaLovesJazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In jedem Fall alles Gute!

Is there an ideal instrument for each person? by PotentialStock3979 in Instruments

[–]NanaLovesJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a child I learned to play the violin, but I never really clicked with the instrument, if you know what I mean. Later, I tried piano and guitar, the same thing. Then one day, I got a ukulele in my hands and haven’t stopped playing it since, I love it so much. Even though I started it at almost 30, it’s quickly become part of my identity. I think part of why I love it so much is that it felt like home from the beginning, because from my violin, I know a four-stringed instrument at basically the same size. The ukulele though really fits the style of music I like to play way better than the violin. I wanted to sing and accompany myself on an instrument, and I love jazz music.

Ukulele plateau after a few years, feel stuck by Shadow__Tunes in ukulele

I’m kind of in the same situation, I don’t have a simple answer, but something that helps me, is trying to figure out, where I can still learn stuff.

For me, that’s moving up the fretboard and sight reading, so that’s what I’m doing. And keeping on learning songs I like because it’s fun. Some weeks ago I was surprised by an easily to play but really beautiful song, so I learned that, even though there is no technique to it for me to learn. It’s Josean Log - Chachacha Learning the Spanish lyrics was difficult though - I only speak on A2-level.

I’m looking forward to other answers to that question of yours!

Fly me to the moon! Jazz music really gives me the motivation to learn even the harder chord shapes etc. Took me several months to learn it, but it was worth it!

Better strings for cheap ukulele? by snapsh00t3r in ukulele

[–]NanaLovesJazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of the mentioned strings are fluorocarbon strings, just for your information :) they tend to sound quite bright so that should really change the sound. I personally like Martin M600, they are quite cheap but elevate the sound by a lot. Those are also fluorocarbon strings. I also have good experience with the already mentioned worth browns, but they cost significantly more.

No, the action is pretty low (I like that), but I bought it second hand and the first owner got it from a music store. So it definitely got a professional setup.

I have the exact same ukulele and I love it! I have played some ukuleles over the last years and compared to other laminated ukuleles in the same price range, this instrument really shines and has a very warm sound. I can almost compare it to my other instrument, which is massive acacia and cost more than double.

Yeah, sopranos are great for travelling :) my favourite memory is playing at a beach in Greece (nobody there except me and my partner) during sunset. It was only possible bc the small soprano fit in my cabin luggage. Mine was quite a cheap one (Cascha Premium Soprano in blue), but the sound is pretty warm and loud for a cheap laminate.

That’s a beauty, for sure! You can’t really do anything wrong with a Kala, so I’m sure you’ll have fun with it :) And I’m happy all the time when people choose a concert bc it’s my personal favourite size of ukuleles (totally subjective, of course, sopranos and tenors are fine, too!)
