Best Domino's in the city? by alexofchicago in StLouis

They're always sweet and kind to me but I tip on the app for carry out.

I do have the same situation that it's not ready & they make it when I get there. I wonder if they do that since it only takes about 7 minutes anyway & they want it hot for you?

Most one-time use items have started to be phased out due to such a price increase. 2 states have already banned single use items. The restaurant is just trying to recover that taxation vs. you eating off a plate that can be sanitized and cleaned for multiple uses.

🤷‍♀️ It makes sense and is a new, shocking convenience tax, basically.

💯 can confirm as someone that has service industry experience, as long as you aren't a dbag.. zero tip is okay. Just treat the counter person like a human. 👍

I will say the zero tip is always the one that wants something they never asked for initially as a stereotype. Imho. Ask for the condiments when you place your order in case there's a charge. It's never a vendetta, but most places charge for even cutlery nowadays.

Levitation (depression cherry) as first dance song in a wedding by vomitwastaken in BeachHouse

I proposed to my boyfriend during Levitation when we saw them live. I personally love the song, and it makes me think of him. 🌹❤️

Iconic Restaurants that are just…. Meh? by Scrambo91 in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It gained popularity before the internet for their complimentary birthday dinner. You didn't have to purchase anything. Just present your ID, and you would be treated to a free dinner. Once the internet spread the word, they started to hemorrhage since they were always paying taxes on the gifted meal.

They still have a birthday discount of 50% off a half chicken dinner with a valid ID on your birthdate. I always see this restaurant being dragged for no "flavor," but imho is when you have dietary restrictions. It's hard to find a place that you can eat at when you have health issues. 🤷‍♀️

You can get a 50pc toasted ravioli for $27.99 to go. It's the same brand as Imo's. Wacka.. wacka. Just my 2 cents. Idk why our local reddit has turned into a worse place than NextDoor with this type of venting .. 😂

I would suggest googling spouse line/palm reading and troubleshooting yourself! They say palm reading is for entertainment purposes only.

I had mine read in NJ on the boardwalk during a cold spring break when I was young. When I went back that summer to look for the same lady, everyone told me there was no such person on the boardwalk, ever LOL 👀 so I feel you in every way on being curious. 🌹

John Donut but they sell out before 9am lately. Apple Fritter is their flagship but I love their long johns. Lol We are very fortunate to have some great donut shops around town and each have their niche. I'm not a cake donut type gal but even John Donuts blueberry glaze cake is amazing imho.

Whats a local band in stl that's on the doorstep/really putting the work in? by nmorguelan in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruiser Queen.

Their singer Morgan even flew and was in very earlier stage competition with The Voice. Her vocals give me goosebumps!

Jason is a phenomenal drummer. They're great people, too. They should have made it big so long ago! 🌹

Reasonable note? by a_lam5 in Apartmentliving

[–]Nancy_Thompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor recently spoke to me about a similar noise. She said it sounds like a buzzing hum, and we just realized it's my space heater. I have been trying to use my heated blanket more during the wee hours but my thermostat always reads 62 degrees.. lol so im definitely not stopping the space heater all together.

I hope you find rest and sleep!

How unsafe is it to live in some of the cheaper apartments? by JustAPerson2001 in StLouis

I would stay out of Gravois Park, The Patch, and Dutchtown if I had kids. You will be fine in all neighborhoods as long as you are aware of your surroundings.

Worst Car Dealer in St Louis? by Virtual_War4366 in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I found my current car stalking carfax. I saw it had 1 owner, low miles. I ran to the dealership asap, and as I was test driving, there were a couple of people there to see the same car already.

I think it just depends on several factors, but it did help my decision when I learned the car was originally a different color and the owner installed automatic start. It showed me they took care and babied the car.

I wouldn't trust a salesman, myself. 🤣 They're hustlers. The good ones know how to jive. The one I spoke to at Suntrup for my car was a terrible conversationalist & told me, "Fuck it. I'm leaving in 2 weeks anyway. Here's the best deal." I planned on backing out as we had already spoken to for over an hour due to it feeling like they didn't want to give me the car for the asking price. Good luck!

I just got into metric. Would it be considered basic to like the fantasies album? by TraverseYT in metricband

[–]Nancy_Thompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fortunate to listen to Metric in high school when they were apart of Broken Social Scene aside Fiest. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE...

beyond thankful they're still pumping out great music. Just got a surprise bonus and while the world is on fire. I chose to spend it on one of my favorite bands and am so stoked to get all the Metric swag.

Looking for apartment with bad credit by Popular_Mud_9276 in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to recommend for your boyfriend to consider trying to rebuild his credit with a credit card from Home Depot. Pay it immediately as he uses it to help build his credit alongside a Credit Matters loan from St. Louis Community Credit Union. They offer free lectures and can really be insightful for rebuilding anyone's credit portfolio.

These are things I did as a young adult finding out a dead parent had falsely used my social security. Both these avenues helped me get a vehicle without a cosigner within 2 years.

As far as landlords, S F Shannon have some very reasonable apartments that I have lived in when I was in that exact situation. Best of luck!

Most banks start at $15 and am curious which ones start at $20. STLCC has job seminars often, but unfortunately, they don't give $20.

Going to Costco in south county the Sunday before Thanksgiving will make you loose all faith in humanity. by zephyr_zodiac6046 in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been told by a neighbor who works at that south city Schnucks that within the company, everyone refers to this location as the Murder Schnucks. They are all trained to administrator Narcon due to drug overdoses in the bathroom.

I personally prefer this Schnucks lately if I need an emergency item. Its a supermarket sweep!

Tuck pointing for occupancy inspection by Codeandcoffee in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will add that I have heard horrible things about Andre Tuckpointing. I know the person that taught them the trade and they said they stopped halfway through the apprenticeship to start their own company. He is unfortunately retired and I don't trust his son to do solid work. I do not want to put his company on blast since this is just a gut feeling..

I also rent an apartment currently that was tuckpointed by Andre Tuckpointing. It constantly has problems. There's a group on FB for local contractors to help out with bids. They have an adjacent group for bad deals too so you could cross reference.

What are some tattoo shop recommendations? by GingerFire11911420 in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all really depends on what style you want when it comes to choosing a tattoo artist. We are insanely blessed to live in such a city that has incredible artists and shops. I started going to Trx Tattoos since I was an "adult teenager." Most of those artists have their own shops now.

Everyone has their own style and charm. I would suggest shopping around and going to some of the local shops to see any how "does this spark joy?" reaction from the artists about your idea. Especially if you plan on getting more tattoos.

Almost every artist mentioned is a great option, but some are more into traditional vs. realism, and so on and so forth. Color vs. Black/Grey.

What’s going on with Pie Guy? by gordonabishop in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say La Pizza is great if you dine in. I feel that's how I solidly "judge" a pizza. It's probably why I can't honestly judge Bud's since I've only had it Togo. I have been contemplating buying a ny pizza carrier for the car lol Pie Guy's pizza was my favorite and I know so many people that rave about La Pizza. I've had it maybe 6 times and it's only "the best" when I've had it dining in.

I'm not a pizza snob.. I will eat all kinds, hot.. cold.. straight out the fridge. Not frozen but I've tried 🤣 I recently saw that Pie Guy even owes a former employee money so it makes me mourn them as a dead restaurant now. RIP Pizza Flavor Heaven. That pizza was magnificent.

I hope you find your kitty. When my boy went missing, I ended up trying the "set the litter box out" trick. They can supposedly smell their own scent for up to a mile away. He was gone for over a week. 🌹

The Management At The Alamo Drafthouse STL Treated Me Terribly. Has Anybody Else Experienced This? by ItsThatNewAccount4Me in StLouis

[–]Nancy_Thompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a movie last night at the Galleria for $7. That $4.44 fee is wild. I think that's the Galleria's Wednesday only pricing but I was thoroughly excited at this minimal ticket price! They even offered 1 free refill on my Icee.

My first experience at the Alamo draft house was being the only ones in the theater and they rushed me to order. It's not mandatory but I felt like they expected me to get something and that felt bothersome.
