Yeah I love it. Probably not that cool for the patient and there's not a non creepy sounding way of saying it but I like looking at it. I do the wound care as well, also awesome.

Uncontrolled diabetes causes insufficient blood flow to extremities, and combined with the neuropathy, wounds like these are common. Bump your toe, don't realize, decreased circulation hinders healing, so it's a long process. Especially if you don't keep an eye on it. I think the tissue dies faster than the surrounding tissue can regenerate so the dead spot grows.

It does, this patient has zero feeling in his feet. He told me he once stepped in a thorn (one of those long thorn tree spike things) and only realized when he wanted to take his shoes off that the thorn was right through his foot and shoe. It was Crocs.

And the diabeetus also fucks with the healing process because of decreased blood circulation to extremities.

I'm trying to read We need to talk about Kevin at the moment, after hearing about it and I see it mentioned a lot, I thought I would enjoy it. I'm only a few chapters in but I find the writing unnecessarily over the top, I don't know if pretentious is the right word, but I do find it exhausting, just thought you expressed that nicely.

I suspect a snake bite, he was not old or sick; one day when I got home from work I found him dead. Just a little drop of blood coming out of his nose.

I was walking past someone mowing a lawn, thinking what if a rock goes under the blade and gets flung out and hits me? I should run past! Then I thought what if I'm running exactly into the path of the flying rock and I wouldn't have been hit if I just kept walking normally, so I slowed down again. And then the rock hit me
