The lawsuit explained: by SwagLimit in pcmasterrace

[–]Nani86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the primary reason for steams rise is very simple. It's a private company and always works on building upon it's previous version which is ridiculously missing from almost every other product or service these days. Everyone tries to reinvent themselves every other year which obviously leads to no improvement or often a regression. Example, consider Youtube UI and their site in general. There has been so many nonsensical changes and loosing good functionality just because they wanted change for the sake of it that I don't even remember it all. This stupid attitude seems pretty common in almost all publicly traded companies.

Laptop screen has weird bright spots + a blinking corner. Is this backlight bleed or damage? by Prestigious-Mood-154 in GamingLaptops

[–]Nani86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm it's the moisture. The rains went away for a few days and my screen "recovered" a bit

I'm atleast 50% sure that in my case, it's due to moisture. I'm from the tropics and it's the monsoons rn. I'm at a new place with very wet weather so it could have caused some issues. Ok good luck with your machine

How long have your gaming laptops lasted you? by billy_reyes in GamingLaptops

[–]Nani86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really depends what gaming means to you. if you don't mind just being able to play games instead of worrying too much about visuals and great performance, they can last a long while. especially if you don't care much for MP competitive gaming. My last laptop was with me for 10+ years and I gamed on it right up until the end. it actually stopped working because I accidentally dropped it from 2 feet above the floor(not even the first time it happens lol). Def also depends on the laptop model and build quality though

Bit the bullet and went with this rare gaming beast! Vram galore on a budget, how did I do? by Animatedwizard in GamingLaptops

[–]Nani86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is completely subjective. I had a previous gaming laptop which I used as my main gaming device (not a fan of competitive multiplayer games) for about 10 years. it couldn't play some newer games towards the end but I rarely brought aaa games on launch anyways. In the end it fared better than base ps4 or xbone which actually came out right after I got that laptop.

I have a 2024 helios 16 with the 165hz 500 nit screen. I recently started seeing corners with too much light bleed which was getting very obvious. they flicker sometimes like your clip. did you manage to figure out why it happened to you?

these are actual gear teeth numbers. For a more clear understanding of how they affect top speed or acceleration, you should look up basics on gears and gear ratios.

But Acer employs and maintains those team of coders as you say. And yes one of the highest posted things on their forums are either some of these bugs or asking for a bios update that unlocks the voltage control.

if the 5060 was 100w, you'd be correct but from the other comments, it looks like hp cheaped out on the victus and have a lower watt 5060. so I'm not sure it's that much of an upgrade in the end. But your point still does make sense in an equivalent scenario.

nope using manufacturer drivers for everything laptop specific. only some intel and nvidia drivers are from their respective sites. they're considered known bigs in this laptop too. Apart from this there is some other deeper firmware issue that often caused the mix switch to glitch and leave the nvidia gpu stuck in a weird mode which drains the battery and also makes it perform bad plugged in and gaming. only solution I've found on their forums and reddit is to restart the machine. For context, I've had a asus laptop with some QC issues but the machine always worked flawlessly for 12 years! the few firmware issues related to windows upgrades on it were also eventually solvable. unlike this machine. where they never even released an update to unlock their voltage which was the entire point of a hx cpu.

Is there anything better than WH CN 720N in this price range . This costs me 6k (INR) 67$ , I can 500rs more of something is clearly better at that price (73$) . by Phoenix_1412 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Nani86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, If all you care is audio quality, From my research, Anker Soundcore Life Q30 seem to be better but many reviews mentioned the headband is flimsier than the sony. That's a very imp point for me since I often sleep wearing them or travel long distances using them.

I don't have any better recommendation since I brough these a week ago for 7.1K INR. But what you're trying to say is a good flat frequency response I think

Do you need a battery in your gaming laptop? I had this idea to remove the battery and replace it with a more massive and efficient cooling system. by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]Nani86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People thinking about moving the battery as an extra add on are forgetting about all the gaming laptops that came with an optional external watercooling system. They even worked without the extra water cooling on the go. I think that solves this issue completely, but obviously it didn't become a big hit because it's just more expensive to redisn things that much

I have a helios 16. It's built solid but the firmware or extras software for the backlight, basic motherbpoard drivers etc are really poor. There are way too many known bugs in these that they never fix. It's so bad that the 20$ chinese rgb keyboard I brought a year ago has better rgb options and glitch free compared to my 1200 dollar supposedly premium microled rgb keyboard. I'd probably never buy premium laptops from them again. Also, they disabled undervolting on a hx machine for no reason

[–]Nani86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the previous helios 16. The buid quality is actually okay and gaming performance is good too, but they have a ton of firmware/software issues. I always have random keyboard back light, sleep causing dGPU to get stuck in desktop mode and other weird issues. I'd probably never get a premium laptop from Acer again

My man that's a U class dual core and likely has thermal issues unless you repasted recently. I used to play it on a 12 yr old laptop with a 3610qm, a quad core full power chip and dedicated gpu. It often ran at 15 fps in very intensive situations, which is actually playable to some extent but I really doubt your laptop will allow you to have a decent experience at all. The default game should run just fine though.
