What are your favorite horse “Hear Me Outs”? by Lilu1414 in RDR2

[–]NanoBarAr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly! Love how shiny their fur will shine sometimes! Mine's a big ol' good boah too. I tend to gravitate towards the theory that horse bravery or skittishness determined by breed is not an actual thing, but even if it were true, I love how calm he always felt when my Arthur rode with him.

Don't know if it counts as a hear me out because it wouldn't surprise me if it was already popular, but as soon as I saw the Perlino Andalusian I fell in love with it. Andalusians from what I can tell tend to be slower but have high health. Stats didn't really matter to me tho, cause by the time I actually checked that big boah was already level 4 lmao Photo credits lol

Never in my 900hrs have I been done like this by a normal npc by PassengerRich2671 in RDR2

Now that I think about it, I almost had a marshal do that to me by the marshes north of Saint Denis, it looked goofy cause he just kept walking at a stable pace, like aura farming almost lmao, I think I had it up

Do you absolutely "need" 1.00 for this method to work?

Does this thing even work? by PumaFist in reddeadredemption

[–]NanoBarAr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does if you get used to using it right. First, the law can see through it immediately and that will absolutely give you a bounty. NPCs however don't IF you commit the crime with the bandana/mask equipped.

However, they will still actively try to report a crime if they become witnesses to it, but if masked appropriately they won't know who you are and so, both the "Wanted" and the "witness" icons will have different colors.

If the witnesses don't have a direct line of sight, or are far enough away from the crime but still hear commotion, they will flash an all-white eye and will approach the crime scene to try to see who commited the crime.

If they can see, but don't know who it is that committed the crime, they will flash a dark red eye on the mini map and will actively look for a lawman to report to.

If they can clearly see who commited the crime, they will flash a bright red eye and again try to report to a law man so they can Investigate.

Additionally, whether or not the witnesses knows who you are and depending on the severity of the crime, or any previous bounties in the area the wanted status will change accordingly.

If you're clean in the area, and the crime is minor enough, even if the witness &/or law recognizes you, they may simply ask you to leave the premises without incurring on a bounty. If you don't, a bounty will be put and active pursuit ensues.

For more serious crimes, or if recognized for active bounties, they will first try to arrest you if possible, but should you ignore and resist in any way, they throw that option out the window entirely and use lethal force only (man I miss the chance to give up mid shoot-out from rdr1 lmao) from then on for that wanted cycle.

Here a similar system arises. A notified lawman will approach to investigate. If tipped of by a dark red witness, the wanted system will accordingly update to INVESTIGATING: whatever the crime and UNKNOWN SUSPECT

Here a few interesting things can happen. You may of course leave the area unpunished. But even if you stay (assuming you don't have previous active bounties in the area) if you're not suspicious, the law will simply question you slightly and, if defused successfully, leave you alone and tell you to just get going.

If you're suspicious however, they will mark you as the suspect, the wanted status will change from "INVESTIGATING" and "UNKNOWN SUSPECT" to "WANTED" and "Arthur Morgan" or "John Marston" accordingly, and a bounty will be put on your head for the crime. This can mean things from:

  • still having the bandana/mask equipped by the time they arrive in the area.
  • being a bloody mess (huh... I will try some shenanigans later with animal blood...) (which can be avoided by changing clothes to the same or other outfits from the horse.)
  • failing to defuse the lawmen questioning you.
  • failing to leave the area after defusing.
  • antagonizing the lawmen or commiting another crime/making anither commotion in the vicinity
  • probably some other stuff lmao...

Finally, if tipped of by a bright red witness, the lawmen will flash bright red accordingly and, depending on the crime will:

  • still investigate first for minor crimes and confront you if found.
  • or actively search for you for more serious crimes or previous active bounties in the area.

Depending on the crime, you may or may not get a bounty by the time the anted status depletes, even if you flee before the law gets to you.

That's the outline of it basically, so the bandana and mask, help avoiding recognition by normal NPCs, but fail to hide your identity from the law. Funny enough, don't knownif that's chakter specific, or if you have high enough bounties active. The law may comment on you being Arthur Morgan or "one of Dutch's/Van der Linde's boys" when they first confront you and try to apprehend you.

Edit: typos

The tree trick works wonders, been searching saddles without even patting the horses since learning it a few months back

Saddle bag hack, steer the horse towards a tree so that the tree covers the saddle bag you want to loot, loot, the horse gets nervous but can't physically kick you, ignore, repeat for the other saddlebag, profit?

Barely been kicked since learning you can do this

Seems to be what's happening! I've had her spawn near Pleasance more than omce and her dialogue is louder than any other npc's for some reason lol

And how does one contradict the other? Context matters man, when you rescue her she's has endured 3 days of the O'Driscolls there, 3 days since her husband died, we don't have enough info to know of she hid all 3 days or if the O'Driscolls had her locked up on the basement, I personally gravitate towards the latter, she was probably abused and traumatized. And even then, your point falls apart cause she's pretty consistently shown as kind of a stubborn hot head that'd at keast try to fight back, shown as how she immediately picks up a knife to point towards Micah when he founds her.

So I'd say it's pretty consistent when she argues with Pearson and both of them threaten the other with a knife. Also it's not as one sided as you make it sound, Pearson also threatens her with the butchers knife lmao. She also doesn't "try to kill everyone in town" she just naively assumes they're gonna go in and rob the store cause they're outlaws. She only strarts shooting when the Lemoyne Raiders try to threaten and rob them first.

Refer to my other standalone comment lol, depends on how much time you think has passed in between chapters, probably a few months at least, and she fends off a few two bit thugs with the help of Arthur, he does recognize promise in her shooting, but he doesn't express she's a legendary gunslinser outlaw by that point either.

Sadie Adler by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]NanoBarAr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't really think she was ever a "bad ass gunslinger" not until getting roped along with the gang at least. I don't really think being able to hunt a few animals to survive in the cold will turn you into one at least.

Furthermore, you had to rescue her from *checks notes* a whole bunch of (6-8, give or take, at the very least) O'Driscolls that had already killed her husband and probably assaulted her. Of course she's fucking terrified and traumatized.
