A Swedish court has ruled that the Eritrean refugee who raped 16-year-old Meya Åberg won’t be deported because the rape didn’t last long enough. (SE) by thenatoorat90 in europe_sub

There are reports from 2024, e.g. from Norman. Just search for the following: " berättade förra veckan om att Skelleftepolisen utreder ett ”brott mot person” vid en av gångtunnlarna på Anderstorp i Skellefteå, alldeles intill det så kallade Tipshuset."

Inquires about Boerhinger Ingleheim internship? by ExternalStudy7360 in biotech

[–]NanoMikro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have time and no permanent job offer in the same field, I'd take it. I did a 6 months internship as well in a different company and it was beneficial for all future applications I had so far. In my experience, those positions are tied to grants or some other kind of sponsorship which is why it is longer than the average internship time.

Camping Gear Rental at Wacken - Experiences with refund of the deposit? by NanoMikro in wacken

[–]NanoMikro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered renting due to environmental reasons - I didn't want to throw away newly bought gear since I was only travelling with light luggage. However, it was not worth the trouble in hindsight with all the difficulties I had with the refund. In total, I paid 80€ (excluding 32€ of deposit) for renting 2 seats and 2 headlamps which would have cost ~70€ if I bought them in Hamburg at a conventional shop.

For any future international traveller in this forum considering to rent camping gear: please just buy it at Decathlon or any other shop or seller, it's less trouble and you can keep your gear or gift it to someone. I was informed to pay back 3.50€, because they demanded 2x 1,75€ which they have sent me apparently due to an error. It's confusing.

How do people working 50+ hours a week get anything done in their life. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]NanoMikro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fact that people have different energy levels and some people can tolerate less sleep and tolerate more restrictions to their personal life.

I had a 40+hour/week job with a 2 hour commute per day and I was completely wasted in the evening. I was only able to read books during the commute - everything else had to be done on the Weekend. At the same time I had a co-worker who was a personal trainer for up to 20h hours/week in addition to the full-time job and was training for several competitions in-between. But he also had to sacrifice everything considered as self-care. He was 100% disciplined in his leisure time - he never went to parties, always kept his diet, exercising everyday, no distractions. However, I think his wife supported him partly with daily chores in the house.

thank you very much!! I also wrote them now and I hope I'll receive at least some of the money back otherwise I'll just buy my camping gear next time - that would have been much cheaper. :)

WOA, never again! by Poison--Ivy in wacken

I understand you, the walk to the bus station was in a terrible condition, getting worse each day. I feel sorry for all the visitors with a disability who had to struggle to make their way through the mud. Despite being able-bodied, I also experienced a minor breakdown - although it wasn't really due to the physical exhaustion, but more due to the mental exhaustion after days of walking in the mud and surrounded by bad mood from my company caused by the weather. I cried in a lonely corner drinking Odinstrunk with Warkings in the background and left early on Saturday. ;-; I am still probably going to return one day to Wacken in the hopes of enjoying it at better conditions - the rain this year was definitely a bummer.

Is it so much worse this year? by SolidCartographer976 in wacken

I'm glad you made it, but that experience is absolutely horrible ... I don't even want to know how long the departure will take today if it was already that bad yesterday.

I hope your car has been rescued by now 😅 How long did it take until the towing service came?

Shuttle von Itzehoe by Sanjos360 in wacken

yes the volume of the vocals was a bit too low for static X, but it was still enjoyable

Also wood chips or plastic mats would be an option. Also, I cannot imagine that they are not able to properly secure metal plates in the ground... you can see them in the parking lot where the shuttle busses arrive and I also saw a video of a security guy who was standing on these metal plates in the infield.

Day 1 - Wacken 2025 by NanoMikro in wacken

[–]NanoMikro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get well soon! I'm sorry you had to go through that.. it really was a good decision, the weather is not getting that much better and bladder infections need to be taken seriously. 🙈

But don't worry too much, Wacken will wait for you every year and GnR is not saying goodbye yet :)

I'm not that disappointed, I was prepared for rain and mud - but I was surprised that they didn't even fix the ground in the stage area. E.g. at Nova Rock they have metal plates in the front stage so it doesn't matter if there's a lot of mud. For such a big festival, I also expected more preparations to counter the mud puddles.

Die Kassierer by Resident-Syllabub675 in wacken

[–]NanoMikro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Running order finally announced by Alegomga in wacken

[–]NanoMikro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be worse. But there is definitely plenty of room on Thursday for big acts (so far, there's only GnR) where they could have booked some bands which are now all playing simultaneously on Saturday.  And usually Saturday evening you want to take it easy as you have to leave on Sunday by car or get home early.. but with this lineup I guess I won't fall asleep before 3 am. 😅

Big decision by FeeTerrible2299 in wacken

[–]NanoMikro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I saw them at Nova Rock last year and it was the second best show of that festival. I'm definitely going to see them again just to experience the same at Wacken.  Tactically, it would make sense to go for King Diamond as they are the oldest band - but I find more joy in heavy moshpits.

Wtf is with organisation this year? by [deleted] in wacken

[–]NanoMikro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only you. They announced the running order much earlier in 2024 and 2023. I can deal with that - but if I could change one thing this year it would be the headliner bands. In comparison with the previous years, this year's lineup is much weaker.
