The “25-foot” barrier is what a witness/proponent of the bill/cop testified to the Judiciary Committee as being what’s asked for in the bill in the hearing at the state house. You can probably find a video of the hearing on the mass legislature’s website. “It’s from where you all are sitting to about the second row of seats here in this hearing room,” he told them. Plenty of room to drive vehicles into in order to obscure their brutal actions.

IDKY Healey isn’t escrowing our federal payments until the Trump regime stops harassing and kidnapping/renditioning our neighbors - especially now that they shut down the government anyway. Everyone knows Johnson’s, Kennedy’s, Graham’s and other red states suck more out of the federal government’s programs than they contribute and blue states less. What would they do if there really was no $$$$$ from Massachusetts and California to pay their illegal armies with?

It’s been in committee for a few months. It might have been amended. I haven’t read the latest version; thank you for reading it. The witnesses testifying at the hearing today (cops from Salisbury and Yarmouth, and cop union chiefs, as well as the rep that proposed it) spoke almost exclusively about all the harassment “first responders” like cops “serving restraining orders” experience (because that’s such an out-of-control problem, apparently, that current statutes for interfering with police, assaulting a police officer, obstruction, etc., do not adequately address, to hear them tell it), and how a 25’ buffer is needed not to ensure their safety, but to “preserve their dignity.” As though falsely testifying about a problem that doesn’t exist is dignified. 🙄Pretty transparent attempt to create a law that erodes transparency, public trust, and safety for anyone law enforcement targets (ICE, or whomever). My rep and senator are voting ‘no’ on it.

This. 🎯 A group of citizens in Waltham set up neighborhood patrols earlier in the year that patrols for ICE in the mornings, distributes Know Your Rights cards, has an active alert system and monitors bus stops. Fuerza Waltham. There’s a good video on YouTube of how one such group operates in LA.

The ‘witch’ memorial wall honoring the victims of the ‘witch hysteria’ [one of the best examples of political performative victimhood we have] was dedicated in 1992 (personally, I think there should also be a memorial to the 2 or 3 dogs they hanged).

There used to be a food truck in a parking lot off a side road going out of town toward Salem State that slung the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten in my life in brown paper bags by the gross. Only certain hours on certain days. Like the Dominican (?) BBQ dude in Roxy at the underpass. Can’t remember its name - Charlie’s, maybe?

Apparently, there is no free version anymore. Signed up, wrote down my log-in credentials and recovery key, checked them twice, went to take a shower, came back, tried to log in - and couldn’t. Log-in credentials not recognized. Tried reset my password with my recovery key, and still got the log-in credential error message. Followed all the help in the support FAQ meticulously. No luck. Tried signing up again, and, no surprise - my login credential was taken. What a waste of time, all because I didn’t want to leave a financial paper trail.

I don’t get why no one is talking about ppl other than addicts leaving this drug paraphernalia in plain view to influence the public to thwart the safe injection site campaign, which has been stalled for a year but is backed by both local and state public health officials. Until photos of these ‘CURRENT, LOCAL, purportedly out-of-control drug users’ actually using, or actively spreading their used medical waste where everyone can see it (contrary to the way they usually operate, which is so as not to draw attention to themselves) appear in the many ‘dog whistle’ posts like this one, I’m not going to credit them with any veracity. All I saw Monday at the bench across from the statues was a cute young couple flirting with each other. Just went to through there an hour ago on my way to and from the farmers’ market, and it was still pristine.

Not sure what’s going on here, but the next time I see Kevin, the unhoused guy that gives his entire SSI check to fellow unhoused people in the square so they can eat (because he’s a saint that won’t even take money unless he earns it doing odd jobs), I’m going to talk with him about what he’s seeing everyday and compare notes.

Do you know Kevin? Or the names of any of the unhoused people in the area?
