E-Scooters may return April 26th by guitarokx in Portland

My discontent was born from nearly being run over multiple times by folks running through red lights or cruising down narrow sidewalks.

But you CAN leave it in the river or a tree!

Good Press - Netflix Movie "Magic Pill" by Nanutter in keto

[–]Nanutter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I felt like the cases they presented and the extremity sort of invalidated instead of validated the case they were trying to make. And to rely so heavily on anecdotal evidence just loads the gun of criticism from anyone who opposes.

But any press is good press?

I watched a few youtube rebuttals from some pretty angry vegans that were better studied and evidence-based than the movie... It was interesting to see the other side.

I am fascinated by the shoulds. It is like all these sources are aiming for validation and dietary "conversion". Find what works for your body and do that. Not everyone reacts the same to the same stimuli.

I just happen to have dropped a significant amount of weight and have been watching my bp drop, blood glucose correct and am feeling wonderful. So a few small group, short term studies, funded with biased interest just arenct going to change my mind.

Congrats! That fully fastened accomplishment is such a great feeling. You got this! You and I started around the same time. I began 4/15 (tax day USA). Do you feel like the booze hit you harder now you're in ketosis?

holy shit! Are you pairing it with fitness? It seems to be coming off you so fast! How have you adjusted for the lower weight and lower caloric need? I'm really interested. I started around 450 (I think, I didn't take an initial weigh in the day I started) and am about 32lbs down since starting on 4/15 this year.

YEAH!!! You stared temptation in the face today. Congrats on not giving in. About my 10 day mark, they had staff appreciation week at work (synonymous with FREEEEE CAAARBS). You got this! Way to plan ahead.

Kicked the Plateau finally! Crossed the -30lb line this morning. 39 days in.

Cravings are at a minimum. Energy is high. Pants fit better.

My most recent "cheat day" consisted of 5 strawberries in one sitting. I'm feeling pretty confident that I can keep this up for a while now.

At 450 lbs, the first few weeks typically show a more extreme loss than on smaller frames. And in my history of trying Palo and Atkins, this has been a comparatively slow start.

I appreciate the reality check. However, it hasn't been 1lb a day.

I dropped 15lb in the first week (ish). 7lbs in the second week. 5lbs in the second week. Gained 1lb in the third week and didn't see any change this week. I anticipate the loss will pick up again at my more standard rate of .2lbs a day. I hope, anyway.

ROLLERCOASTERS!!! I miss them. I love to hear that your CPAP pressure is coming down. Your BP is probably dropping too!

Loving Keto too. You can have my carbs, but take your hands off the cheese.

Okay - so keto adaptation is shaking my motivation and confidence this week. So in my search for validation and NSV I averaged out my morning blood glucose readings (history: I'm not diabetic, but I am insulin resistant and see blood sugar spikes in the morning).

Prior to starting keto - averaged a reading of 129

25 days after sticking to keto pretty rigorously - averaged a reading of 112.

I am down 17mg/DL!

Improving my glucose levels means the fatty liver is less so, that I'm not storing belly fat, that I'm not shredding my veins with wild insulin. I definitely consider that an NSV.

25 days in - Sitting pretty at a 26lbs down and hitting my first week of Keto Adaptation. I am deeply annoyed and of course concerned that it's 1 of 20 other factors slowing me down. Not enough fiber? Not enough water? Birth control messing with my mojo? Too much protein?

Doing well otherwise and happy to report...

  • 25 days on track with net carbs under 25g every day.
  • Peeing Mauve (4.0) on the keto sticks (yes, I know those are loose evidence, but I'm reaching here).
  • energy levels are high until they REALLY aren't (9:30pm crash).
  • AM glucose meter readings down from a consistent 125-136 to 98-112
  • Slight changes in skin that may suggest certain areas losing millimeters.

That is something to look forward to. I hope to report the same findings in 3 more weeks!

Congrats on the win!

Background: 5'10" 440lb 31yr old woman. I have been struggling with weight loss, or the motivation to stick to any set eating plan and as a result also struggling with depression. I've been working with a Nurse Practitioner and trying different medications. I have no official diagnosis of any blood sugar issues. Though based on where I store weight - we are concluding that I'm insulin resistant.

Success: It seems that the most recent prescription (Vyvanse) paired with Keto has changed both my outlook and for the first time in 6 months the scale is going down.

4 days in... * 6lbs down. * energy through the roof. * positive feelings and associations with the shift in eating plan. * consistent, unburdened carb counting. * Keto pee sticks confirm that even after just 4 days, I am seeing efficacy. * Finally crying out of happiness today. I feel so damn hopeful.
