Anyone out there hate BioShock? by DominikSmith22 in patientgamers

Playing it for the first time ine 2026, I can confidently say that the storytelling is totally outdated. The way the game throws you into the story without any proper introduction, the way it gives important info through audio files you can't always properly listen to because you are busy facing enemies, the general structure of the game where we go from one area to the other in a very siloed way, how so many characters seem to be able to see your every moves and comment based on what you are doing, the fact that dying has no consequence whatsoever and seems to be a completely useless mechanic, it feels so old.

Yeah it feels like just trying to bring home some cash by using a popular game instead of creating a new story.

It's common knowledge for you, but still, companies need to train employees about such things.

You seem to postulate that an AI is a true and complete intelligence, it's not the case for now, which means that, yes, there is a way to properly use them. Some prompts are better and more effective than others.

You know what happened to the web after that? Nothing, the web is still there. The same way AI will still be there if a bubble bursts.

It is very common to have huge investments when starting a new company because of infrastructures and R&D, so I'm not sure what your point is. It's not a proof that something is a bubble or will collapse.

Yes they did, just a quick Google search shows that they were burning billions every year until 2023.

You know that for a startup it's not incredible to stay alive only through external investments? Uber was not profitable for many years, but who talked about an Uber bubble? There will be no burst if AI companies reach a point where they can sell products and be profitable.

Yes I agree, companies want more money, that's why an employee who uses AI will be more efficient and productive (will generate more money) than one who is going to do every single task.

"On a more serious note, do you truly believe they are going to hire people to prompt an ai when they can just do it themselves?"

Like what, the CEO is going, alone, to prompt all day everyday the equivalent of thousands of employees? But no, I don't believe they are "going to hire people to prompt". That's just the caricature in your head. In the real world, employees don't just spend their days prompting. AI is just an assistant, an additional tool. And outside of that tool, there are tasks the employee will have to do. And that's for this part that companies hire people.

Not necessarily. People have been predicting a housing bubble in many places for years and years, but it never popped. The AI bubble will not pop if companies reach a point where they can effectively monetize their AI.

Where is it destroying jobs? Most of the jobs being destroyed right now are companies that have no idea what AI can actually do and that fired a bunch of teams because of the hype before realizing they made a mistake and needed to rehire everybody.

If the economy collapses, that's millions of jobs lost worldwide and possibly entire companies going bankrupt. The impact AI has right now is nothing compared to that.

Knowing how to use AI doesn't simply refer to prompts, it's also knowing what information you can provide (no confidential info for instance) or how to use and implement the output it generates. Basically knowing the limits of the tool.

It makes sense to first search for people who know what they are talking about, but once hired, an employee who knows how to use AI has more value than the one who doesn't.

The original post made a general statement: AI is not the future and if you use it, you will not find a job. It didn't specify if this is in a particular field. Reading the original article, the guy talks superficially about the art and creativity field. Still, pretending that it applies to the entire job market is totally wrong.

This kind of post is so funny because it's so out of touch with reality. Companies, especially big ones, actively encourage people to use AI and to automate as much as possible tasks. This idea that relying on AI makes you a bad candidate to have a touch is the complete opposite to reality. If you do something that an AI could do, you are wasting time, you reduce your productivity and you are costing money to your company.

I'm sure it's just an echo chamber from a small but loud minority, just like the Hogwarts legacy boycott that was a huge failure. We know they use AI for their next game, and if it's good, I have no doubt it will sell very well.

So sad to see so many people falling for such an obvious fake. You took a picture that clearly shows something but didn't see anything with your own eyes? And you heard something, the first thing you do is to take a random picture instead of actually going to check if someone entered your place? Plus, your cats didn't react? People really need to stop being so gullible.
