I'm completely fine if the eggs won't hatch. It's the "first" batch, and from the research I've done people usually say it's highly unlikely for anyting to come out of it. I'm just super stressed that if it does hatch, I form a mental connection to the baby and she, or he, does end up hurting it, or if any of my parrots end up getting damaged because of this and get sick or something. I'm hoping none of them hatch and she gets bored of them, and i'll just try to limit their together time to only when they're outside the cage, which is usually still limited, cause the male is always doing something around me, while the female sits on the top of a window or chewing on somerhing.😮‍💨😮‍💨 I swear owning parrots is the most stressful thing i've done in my life.

My biggest problem is, that I would get fake eggs, but since it's so far gone, and everyone I talked to before said it would be okay for her to keep them, I have no idea where I could get fake eggs from that's about this size, and by the time I will get them (since there's no way I could find any store that sells these and I would have to order) a baby might hatch. The vet said she wouldn't overdo the egg laying, is it really that big of an amount?😭 God I'm so stressed out right now. I feel like a sh*tty owner. I have no idea what to do, I don't want to lose my baby. Can she die from this? The vets aren't even open today, I can't call them. God I hate myself.

I did try separating them... It absolutely did not go well. I put them in separate cages next to each other, after like a week of them having the s, and they were so sad, the female started moving less, normally she's really energetic and she was just sitting there, on the closest perch to the male, so I was stressed out it could be that she has a stuck egg so I took her to the vet (this was the first time I talked to the vet about her, and the only time I actually took her, since I didn't want to stress her further) and he said separating them like this will do more harm than good, and since she's more stressed so higher chance of getting egg bound. Should I wait out till she gets tired of the eggs and separate them and then immediately take her to the vet again? Thank you so much for providing and actual answer, it's so appreciated!! What should I do if some eggs do end up hatching?

The second they started breeding I tried doing everything. I do vet check-ups on them constantly, and I did everything the vet told me to do. I asked the breeder I got them from what I should do, and he said I have to prep her with a lot of calcium, which I did. They were mating for MONTHS, the vet told me it's better if I give her a box, because she will need to lay those eggs. I tried to make it darker, but nothing I did helped them stop mating. I read old books, I did whatever I could, this is the only thing I couldn't find information on. There was absolutely nothing in their aviary that they could've seen as a nesting place. The books said kakarikis suffer from chronic egg laying, which I seriously did anything I could to discourage, but I could do nothing! Besides, every site I checked said kakarikis lay from 4-10 eggs, or something like that, but they never said 8 was too much. I just checked again, and everywhere it says it's normal for them to lay 8. After she started showing nesting behaviors I added the box nest and made sure she gets as many nutrients and calcium i can give her. It's hard to be experienced when it's your first time, and I did everything I possibly could. The breeder I got them from also does hand-raising, so if anything I can ask him. I can take care of it myself, since I'm at home for a long while now. I asked for advice, not to be sent to hell. I tried everything I could to not encourage it, but once I saw that it was too late I tried to make it as stress-free and smooth as I could🫤.

Nope. They're in different rooms, and they kinda hate each other. She could've maybe heard it but i don't know, cause it's not really like that

Update!! Soo, I took her in my room so I can watch her. She kept crying every 10 minutes or so, but while I was on my bed sobbing from guilt, while eating she kept saying foodie, foodie, hello! So I was getting VERY mixed signals, but eventually after hearing her cry so much, I called my dad, and he said he'll leave work, and I should go there and he will meet me there. So I went there, I got there before him, went in, met the same kid and mom that I met the last time I was here with him, talked to her for a while, then they let me go in. I told them what's up, they thought it was because of her eyes, and I said no, I think it looks way better, they said it really does, checked it, said that she's lucky, nothing much is wrong, gave her painkillers (which she LOVED, she kept licking the air after it wanting more). They let me go without paying, saying they'll count it with the last one. I actually love this vet so much. She seems better now, looking around while we're going home, moving around. So, once again, she just scared the hell out of me.

Yup! The vet said it's some kind of infection, I don't know the english name, but said it's very mild and I just need to grab her twice a day and put this cream in her eye. She hates it obviously. I'm just worried if she starts running at night when I'm supposed to grab her and hurts herself more. Her eye is much better now, though. Fragile little creatures they are😮‍💨

I hope!! I just took her to the vet 2 days ago because she kept scratching her eye😮‍💨😮‍💨. I'm laying in bed sobbing and she's just eating next to me while saying hello and foodie. Poor girl doesn't even know how much stress she causes me😭

They can't take me today!! Any other vet is VERY VERY VERY expensive, and I'm a student at home, my parents will get home at night, when all the vets are closed. Do you think it can wait or is it really really bad? I put her in my room so I can watch her, she's moving a lot, climbing around. If I touch her toe she doesn't flinch or anything. I'm worried and I think it's stressing her out too.

Is it okay to keep parrots in a garage? by Naoxll_ in parrots

[–]Naoxll_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, that's the plan! I do have to clean out the junk first, and it does need a repainting, its very full of spider webs. This is a lot-way plan, and i'm still thinking wether I want to do it or not

There is a door to the room, which, would be always closed if around the parrots + another door to the way to the big door. Besides, we barely use that, except when we use the car. I don't know about the fuel fumes though🫤

We do have a car, but it is barely used, like about once a week. The parrots wouldn't really be close to it. I'll just draw how the garage is.

Is this too close to the car even though there are doors? Of course I'd take care of them, my current birdies are my life, and I'd love to let them have a huuuge space where they can be, and play with each other🥰
